Abraham V Miranda - Let's Get It Straight!!

Sorry to waste everyones time but i am starting to get a bit sick of all this mythology that has built up around Edison Miranda regarding the Abraham fight..."the uncrowned IBF Middleweight champion", "robbed out of the fight"...the latest today i read was "the peoples Middleweight champion".

What is with all this? Okay so the refereeing was dodgy and Germany is generally synonymous with bad scoring etc but for flip sake Abraham won the fight! He outboxed his man EVEN AFTER THE JAW WAS BROKEN.

This fight seems to have entered internet folklore or something with guys like Dan Rafael running round shouting robbery and people who probably haven't even seen the fight jumping on the bandwagon.

Am i totally wrong here? People who have seen the fight i welcome your opinions wholeheartedly, am i seeing a completely different fight to everyone else or what?

You know, this has me perplexed too. Im not one to usually side with a boxer in a fight bar the obvious like a Brit but I wanted Miranda to win. Quite simply I saw no way he won and thought Abraham had it quite comprehensively, not in shut out scoring per say but you could "see" (ok, bad word) he won. A second viewing confirmed this. Im not getting this talk of Miranda deserving the decision either.

I saw Abraham winning it too, but you would think on here that we all had Down's Syndrome or something, all the Miranda-fans are making spastic noises at us. We'll see come the rematch, but i have this funny feeling that if Miranda loses there will not be much humble pie eaten

My thoughts entirely, bring on the rematch, i have no soft spot for Abraham at all but i think he has too much know how for Miranda every day of the week.

Abraham won the fight, but I think if there was no point deductions then Miranda won.

A rematch I wouldn't hesistate with backing Abraham.

Wasn't the controversial aspect that Abraham should've been pulled out on doctors advice?

watched it last night.

i agree with steve 689.

taking away pt deductions, i had it 6-5-1 even for abraham.

take the broken jaw out of the equation and he would have won clear i think.

abraham is terrific on the counter and great in combo's. he comes out with some great punches at times.

excellent talent is abraham. :TU:

That and the extra rest he got right after being hurt.

Stu, i seem to remember the score totals were added up and Abraham would still have one without the point deductions. I think it may have been Ant Evans in Boxing Monthly who worked it out.

Maybe, but I THOUGHT Miranda won more rounds than Abraham (if you class them 10-9). I'm not saying the point deductions were not justified or that Abraham wasn't in control before the terrible damage and thats why I don't see it as controvesial and don't particularly want a rematch.

Boxing News did a similar thing, i cant be arsed to dig my copy out but even the reporter said the same, although he scored it a Miranda win w/o the points off (i myself scored a draw without)

I also thought Abraham did enough to win, regardless of Miranda's point deductions. All they served to do was make the result absolutely certain.

I agree with Stu too, I'd favour Abraham very strongly in a rematch. He's a very tidy fighter, and a much more talented one than Miranda.

i have made a note of all the names on this
thread - just about all of you - who are worth reporting to have your heads/eyes tested. i was supporting abraham before the first bell but, maaaaan, he got his aaaaaaaaasssssss kicked. miranda won this fight and was robbed blind by home scoring. if you think otherwise you are seriously deluded. miranda will not win a rematch however because arthur is not stupid enough to ever get back in with him.

No way was Miranda robbed blind! Abraham outboxed him IMO :TU:

I def thought Abraham was a worthy winner but can understand why it was controversial. I mean c'mon, when have you ever seen a fighter with his jaw so busted up that it's locked open, losing shit loads of blood, fight almost stopped by the doctor & ref before some negotiating and then to top it all off a few less than necessary breaks in the action called by the ref. Abraham still won a few rounds even after the jaw went and boxed very tidy through the first 4. About 6-6 in rounds but deductions made Abraham clear winner.

I think Abraham would win a rematch but his jaw may never be the same again :o Plus Miranda has come on abit and I doubt Warriors would send Miranda back to Germany.

just quoting you, so you cant edit your post later.

a) miranda lost closely (or drew) without point deductions despite battling a man looking like frankenstein

b) the headbutt was childish and obvious and deliberate and would have been penalised in 90% of fights

c) The low blows were penalised harshly, but even then the sheer number of them warranted at least one point deduction.

So it's bullshit ignroing the point deductions, because they were perfect legit and are part of the rules of boxing designed to protect good fighters against frustated thugs like Miranda.

Abraham has got a gleam in his eye. He's going to kill Miranda inside 5 in the rematch. I just hope Miranda quits in his corner. I want to see Warriors bullshit press release after that. Their garbage has been putrid to say the least.

Hi Stu. I have no idea where they are. I basically quit posting. I'm a lot healthier for it. There's a guy called Romi on the Current Scene forum, he was one of the later posters.

You've still got my email address. I look about once a month in that account. Time to move on from boxing.

cheers

yep i agree the fouls were bad but the ref was def on an abraham ticket IMO. miranda was the more convincing guy on the night.
but even if you dont agree, and i know you dont, why is miranda hated by so many fight fans? out of all proportion to his demeanor. he will settle this once and for all if abe makes the mistake of getting it on with him again. but you'll all blame that on arthurs jaw not being as strong blah blah blah.
theres gonna be a lot of egg on you guys faces if it happens

Terence wrote:Miranda did Ok at the weekend, Green fought the wrong fight. Allan had the left hook there for him but negated it by backing away constantly. When he did land it Miranda went down pretty solidly.

Miranda is decent but he marks-up far too easily. Taylor could fight off the back-foot and bust him up over the course of a fight.

Anyone think Miranda looks like Rocket from 'City of God'!
Well, as I am STILL waiting for sky to install their fekking dish, I couldn't comment.

I think that fact that Miranda won on points is a good sign, he's maybe learning his power isn't everything, and obviously can box a little too.

Taylor was backing up with poo in his pants against a blown up light middleweight, and Miranda was fighting a big strong guy who had fought in super middlweight.

I think at MW, Taylor is an accident waiting to happen, might not be Miranda who causes that accident, but I'd give him a good shout of forcing a pace Jermaine cannot handle.
