1 - Williams comes about positive, looks fast. Jabs aren't hurting Gammer though. Danny's legs not what they were - but Williams' round, quite close.

2nd - Gammer comes out throwing punches in bunches. Danny seems troubled by them - Gammer looks stronger. Williams looking increasingly tired.

Gammer 2nd - clear 10-9.

Tired after 2 rounds... damn, Danny always had good stamina

Round 3 - pace slowed. Gammar seems weary of Williams, Williams seems weary of Gammer. Williams peppers with the jab more to shade the round for me.

we know Williams can go to the well and survive some hard moments though.... Gammer hasnt showed that yet in his career......

Just a quick point

Round 4 - Gammar more variety on the back foot, Danny plodding.

Gammer round.

Round 5 - Much better from Danny, some good body shots there - perhaps I was premature calling him tired. up his pace.

Good Danny Round 10-9.

Round 6 - Neither did much, Danny coming forward. Its now Gammer who has run out of ideas.

10-9 Williams - Close.

Round 7 - Gammer seems scared, Danny content now - I think he almost playing with Gammer. Everytime Gammer does something, Danny responds better.

Hurts Gammer quite badly with seconds to go.

Round 8 - Big Gammer round - Williams does nothing, defence poor and does nothing. Strange from Williams.

10-9 Gammer.

Round 9 - Danny comes in hard.... Puts on the pressure.

Hurts Gammer, throws the combinations ala his Tyson effort. Gammer down. Up at 9, but all over the place. Fight stopped.... Good call.

Where have you been the last 3 years Danny, that was close to the real Danny Williams. Still needs some kind of Psychology, think he gave away too many rounds (quite like Sprott).

He needs to stay at this weight, He needs to stay at this fecking weight.

seems like Danny was a bit unsure of himself for most of the fight, but when he turned it on the gulf in class was there....

Considering he is coming off a few bad defeats the confidence will have been dented...hopefully this will restore it a little....

Pleased for Danny, and you're right, he does seem to switch off too much during fights, but he can still go!!

Think Danny was playing with Gammer throughout to be honest - it wasn't cause he was sure of his ability - in some ways the performance (without the show boating) resembled his 3rd fight with Sprott. You don't just switch off, guard down, in the 8th after hurting him in the 7th - unless you felt in complete control.

As with Sprott, it was a little too close to be messing around.

I had it 4 rounds a piece going into the 9th. Gammer got up before the 10 count and looked the ref straight in the eye, he could have been given benefit of the doubt but he had no complaints about stoppage.

I don't think Danny was playing with Gammer, he was getting genuinely outboxed at times, backed up and discouraged by those combos. Oh btw, Danny said he may retire after that win.

No complaints about scoring it that way - I did say many of the rounds I thought Williams won (especially the earlier ones) were close.

Maybe playing with was a bit much - but I think Danny knew from the end of the first that he was better and fought a bit like that. Only way I can explain some of his actions in the fight - the 8th just baffled me. He had Gammer weary (as in starting not to commit) throughout the 7th and nailed him badly in the end and then does naff all in the 8th. Gammer couldn't believe his luck.

Edit: Completely concur with Glen McCory's view of what could have been, and I hope David Haye and Danny Williams' dad have a chat to him. He still has something to offer at at least EBU level in that shape.

Just wandering has Warren let Williams go, there is talk of options that when a SN fighter loses two on the bounce, Warren can let him go.

In this day an age he could still get in the world title mix in 2 fights. Given that Sprott "beat" Vilches clearly in most cards - Danny would have to have a great chance. Then he could more conceievably get a geniune world title fight - more concievable than the Sprott/Harrison/Skelton "one fight till a world title route". At least Danny as EBU champion would have a world ranking with the governing bodies.
