News - Harry Simon comeback / Corrales to get Battered

Harry Simon, who won some good fights in the UK, and got put away for car crash fatalities, is on the comeback trail.
I really enjoyed watching this guy fight, and he could've been a good foe for Hopkins.
On another note, it looks like Corrales won't be in Wicky's division...He's going up to 147 to fight Clottey, in April!
He owes Gary Shaw 1 fight, after Mosley tried to seduce him over to GBP, in an amateur move that nearly got everyone in trouble...So it looks like Shaw is throwing him in with the lions.
Clottey way too tough & nasty.
I've never liked Corrales post prison (nor before). Always felt he was a creep and a hypocrite of the highest order and there would be no charade if he hadn't cheated the count vs Castillo. Clottey could have beaten Margarito if he'd have gritted out the hand injuries.
So I can't wait to see Clottey Unleashed!

So whats Ricky got at 140 after Castillo (presuming he wins)? Castillo rematch, Harris-Witter winner, maybe Freitas, Malignaggi, Torres and Mbaiye. If Witter wins it may eventually come off
Harry Simons surely been out of the game for just too long

Not sure really. Probably pushing it by assuming he gets by Castillo. Great fighters usually have 1 great effort left and though Hatton's faster and fitter, Castillo delivers much higher quality punches. Hatton might get badly marked up in this one, or he could get a body beating.
I think that with Hatton facing a more orthodox foe, that it could be a cleaner fight with more sustained action & less grabbing. I can imagine Ricky throwing killer body shots and Castillo replying with those single hooks that tear up his opponent's faces.

Castillo does not deliver higher quality, or harder punches than Tszyu. a lot slower yes, but not higher quality by a long way. Hatton will take Castillo very seriously, and will put on a similar performance as the Tszyu one. Probably stopping JLC in about 9 rounds.

That's where I'm coming from Andy, I think a super motivated and slightly nervous Hatton, is going to get really focussed for this one, and is going to tear Castillo a new hole. I really do. People were on about how phenomenally strong Tszyu was, and Hatton manhandled him big time, Castillo is nowhere near as strong, nor technically better.
People underestimate how difficult it is to live with the pace Ricky sets at his best, that mauling burrowing style of his is really tiring on a fighter because they cannot get set to throw their shots and are constantly trying to keep Ricky off, breaking up their rhythm.

Tyszu was actually physically stronger than Hatton his weight lifting feats were sensational but his strength is split-second strength designed for brutal 1 punch power. Hatton delivered his strength continously applying more physical pressure and using better balance to push Tyszu around.
I think the younger fresher, fitter, faster, stronger Hatton beats up Castillo in a close contest on route to a UD. Castillo will throw more leather than tyszu, have a better jab than Tyszu, more pressure, and better in fighting so it will be close. Castillo also has a very nice compact punching technique. Castillo didn't look too good at all last time out though. If Ricky loses stamina again Castillos late attack may do some serious damage to him. But Ricky has more momentum than Castillo and should edge him out. Don't see Castillo been dominated though.

I do like the fact that the Witter fans focus on this bold (dare I say stupid) move by Corrales is effecting Ricky's legacy. Ricky already has a fight signed up against the guy who battered Corrales last time they fought.
Who was the fight Mick Hennessey said he had plans for Witter to fight before Harris in a voluntary? Oh yeah, Diego Corrales.
Whats the next move Mick?

I said higher quality than Hatton, who cuffs a bit.
Castillo's not as sharp or compact as Tszyu. Nor as fast. However, he delivers wicked Chavez like shots that don't look much but wreak havok on his opponents' faces and bodies.
Juan Lazcano's face was purple at the end. Bazan was a mess. Julio Diaz was a mask of pain - & wasn't only due to the head clash. These were all fresh young guns and Castillo was hitting them with lead right hands and lead left hooks.
He's a very good punch picker and doesn't waste anything.
With elite fighters, see Johnston 2 (okay, Stevie always marks up anyway), see Casamayor's reactions in the late rounds, the state of Corrales 1.
Tszyu's more complete & venomous & overall better than Castillo, but JLC is bigger, more durable, probably physically stronger, certainly harder to push around.
Deceptively excellent fighter, Castillo.

Who are the Witter fans who say that, on this thread? I seem to be missing something.

Its not just Wicky's devision is it? I certainly thought you toned your opening post as if to say "oh there goes another dangerous fight you (Ricky) cannot face".
Perhaps I miread, appologies if I did.

I didn't claim it would affect Rickys legacy having Corrales not at 140. I was saying Hattons big name opponents at 140 are dwindling and a Witter fight becomes more likely.
I would have loved to see Corrales in with Witter at 140 no doubt. Suprised at Corrales management because Clottey is a big risk. Hatton-Castillo winner would be big money for Corrales, only Cotto/Mosley will match that money at 147 and those are suicide missions for Corrales.

LOL, no I started the post because Gary Shaw just gave Corrales a 1 way ticket to hell. Had to bring Hatton into it or it'd be moved to Current Scene!

Corrales tried to leave Shaw for GBP after a dinner date with Shane & Jin Mosley. He still owed Shaw a fight. Shaw has given him a - some would say -perilous assignment, on purpose!

So if Corrales gets through this hes free to sign with GBP and make the easy to make Mosley fight. Or he could fight that Bradford based GBP fighter
