is Alejandro Berrio after a TKO3 victory over Robert Stieglitz. BErrio is now with Sauerland.

I must say, I'm not that surprised, although I didn't expect an early stoppage. I saw the first fight, and was really disappointed with Stieglitz, even though he won. I felt Berrio had a good chance in a rematch.

Where's Froch rated by the IBF? I have a feeling that the likes of him and Bute will be trying to get a shot at Berrio before too long.

Since he is with Sauerland now expect that he will defend against his stablemates. The unofficial order is: 1: Haussler, 2: Larsen 3: Beyer 4: Tsypko. And since this was for a vacant title they dont have to think about making a mandatory defense for a while.

I think the IBF might try to pressure Berrio to make a mandatory defense before the end of 2007.

Berrio is awful, can't see him holding on to the trinket very long.

I really expected Stieglitz to do the business here, however after KO'ing the prospect Yusef Mack and now Stieglitz Berrio is on a decent run of form.

Carl Froch is rated at #5 with the IBF. Thats without a champion status - so that should be up to #4. Steiglitz should be lowered a few positions so that #3. The two ahead of him then will be Bute and Lacy (and there talk of a move up for Left Hook).

Although, as Freiheit said - it will be a long time before his mandatory is up.

Froch should beat Berrio without too much trouble. Berrio looks pretty easy to outbox, he was losing soundly until he landed two big awkward right hands that dropped Steiglitz twice. Berrio has some pop but Froch has shown a great chin in the past, actually I think Froch would KO him within 8.

Berrio is the only way Froch wins a belt.

But he will now either be fed to Kessler or to the remainder of the Sauerland posse (Tsypko, Beyer, Braehmer, Larsen).

Berrio looks very average but is always dangerous with the power he carries. On quite a good run since the first Steigltz fight but he will probably lose his title very soon. Froch would beat him easily imo. He is nowhere near the level of Calzaghe/Kessler/Mundine.

The first two positions of the IBF ratings will be "Not Rated" until an elimination fight.

According to its own rules the IBF could name the most highly ranked fighter (#3 in this case) the mandatory challenger if they decide it's time for the champion to make a mandatory defense. It's actualy the case since the last mandatory defense of the IBF title was back in 2005.

I doubt they will do that tho because they would lose sanctioning fees. ;)

The new ratings should look something like this:

Champion: Berrio
1- Not Rated
2- Not Rated
3- Bute
4- Lacy
5- Froch

We can expect an elimination fight between Bute and Lacy/Froch/Inkin in june.

From what I heard Lacy wants no part of Bute so it's probably going to be Froch. But Froch might decide to go for the WBC belt.

Who knows.

Sauerland are unlikely to send him Kessler's way. He'll definitely fight one of Sauerlands more marketable SM fighters. Larsen is a non starter.
