The division looks pretty exciting. I think in the current scene they're putting Hopkins, Winky and Taylor on a pedestal as standard bearers of middle division boxing.
To me, these 3 men are a bit leaden and depressing. I'm coming off my Hopkins bandwagon. Very clever fighter of course, but he never has to figire out more than 1 problem at a time - so how can he be hailed a genius? I mean Tito had a lef thook & nothing else, Tarver is just fvcking crap isn't he?
Never was on Taylor's bandwagon, and Wright is looking predictable when faced with different styles. A bit of combo punching or a good outside game & he'll be almost ordinary.
I'm thinking none could really make a big impact at 168, where the best look really fresh, energetic and exciting.
Whereas 168 to me is better. Calzaghe never ceases to piss me off. But I'll be damned if the above fighters have ever hammered a fellow title holder quite like Calzaghe did Lacy.
Kessler is terrifically well schooled and unlike Winky, his jab is an offensive one. I love that solid look about him. Great foundation from which he can dominate fights was an awesome jab.
Mundine is coming together beautifully. His speed, combos and even power look impressive. IMO he's really improved through experience and is a genuine peer for Calzaghe & Kessler. This guy is an Aussie Eubank after his dominance of world class Aussies.
I'm really impressed by the young fighters. Inkin - so well balanced, this guy brings educated pressure & very promising. Bute has tremendous flair and a solid resume (incl a stoppage win of Salem). Andrade is a patient, powerful Mexican and I can't wait for March 24 Kessler-Andrade.
