so far this fellas results are looking good, he has been putting people to sleep and not just grinding out points victories. looks like he keeps his power till late too.

does anyone know anything about this 'shane cameron' fella, certainly a good addition to the commonwealth top tier.

TKO's don't indicate a 'sleeping' punch. And he took 8 rounds to get rid of Bob while Skelton took 4- and I don't rate Skelton.

Solomon Haumono made a comeback on the same show, i saw him box a couple of times in Australia the guy can punch, although the level of competition wasn't much. I think he went back to rugby league in 2002 , and just started boxing again this year. So maybe his best years have now gone. he's a Kiwi. And no way are they the same as an Austrailian.


Also you've got John Hopoate , who is infamous in Australia for getting banned from Rugby league , because when he was in a tackle he kept on shoving his finger up his opponents ass. And he really jabbed it up there. Anyway he's a Tongan who is powerful, might see a match up between these 2.

He broke his roght hand in the 1st round, From the second on he just threw mostly lefts which he eventually put him away with. I don't think Bob would have lasted 2 rounds if it wasn't for the broken hand.

Haumono has real talent he was signed by King after his first 8 fights then retired and now has come back.
Hopaote is a joke no skill whatsoever and tired after 1 round.

Yeah, i've not seen Hopoate box, so was only going by his record and reports, bet there are alot of League players would like to see him get a beating. He was a bit of a nut when he was playing.

As for Haumono , i thought he was really going to go places when i saw him a few years ago, maybe he can still get somewhere now, but 5 years out of the ring won't have done him to much good. Plus the added wear and tear of player League might take its toll. He was over here playing for London Broncos/Harlequins at the end of his career.

Your right the wear and tear might get to him but he has all the skills to at least be a panpacific and national champion in the future, I remember him getting caught with a huge punch in one of his earlier fights and it shook him up, He came back and won the fight easily afterwards but it put a question mark over his chin in my eyes. He is working with Johnny Lewis who is our best trainer by a mile so at least we will get to see his real potential.

Quite often a TKO is recorded because the ref stops the fight with the boxer still on the floor but without reaching the count of 10. It is to all intents and purposes a KO, just not recorded as such.

I think Cameron stopping Mirovic is a good result. Not many do stop him these days; he has become a lot more savvy and durable since Skelton. I'm not necessarilly saying Cameron is or will be world class, but I do think that's a very solid result at Commonwealth level.

7 rds to get Colin Wilson out, who was bombed out by a flabby middle aged Corrie Sanders, too many rds to get rid of ex-cruiser Roger Izonritei and Bob Mirovic... a majority decision over somebody called James Walton... i know we should never judge a fighter purely by looking at his record, but there's definitely nothing eyebrow raising about this fella.

I've seen Hopoate, I think Ben's description is spot on... not only know skill but seems to be scared and talked about 1 more fight before making a decision whether to continue or not.

Add the young Tongan Bowie Tupou to the list, he's looking very powerful so far.

As much as I sympathise with any Antipodean fans, I think any Oceanic boxer with ambition needs to relocate to America or Europe simply because there just isn't the same depth in training expertise, sparring and learning fights in that part of the world.
