I've wanted To do A list like this to recruit some of these great boxing minds..

thats 2 classic fighters jack root and george gardnier. I wonder which fight it is, since they fought 4 times?

There's a fair amount of Joe Gans footage survivng, surprisingly enough.

- Gans vs Terry McGovern 12/13/1900 (for me the footage seals the deal - FIX!)

- Gans vs Battling Nelson 9/3/1906 (almost 90 minutes worth!)

I think there's one other Gans bout in my collection but I can't recall.

edit - Oh, the Kid Herman fight.

I can only surmise that the early film was so poor that it did injustice to the fighters of that era. I caught hell from a previous poster for criticizing a Jim Corbett exhibition, vs. Peter Courtney. It doesn't seem to me that the old ball players looked much good either, at least in comparison to their more modern counter parts.

there is film of harry wills in 1924 vs some european bum, let me check up on the name
