Frazier/Ali I is 15 rds of super fast action with hard hitting and plenty moments of drama, not to mention the coupe de grace final rd hellish knockdown of iron chinned Ali....
Are the only other fights he's seen from the Rocky series...?

Don't know how you can be bothered to read some of the weirdos that post on the various boards, it makes me ill just reading them.
Haven't seen The Fight in years now, but it was one for the ages no doubt about that. If I could have been there for the build up, then ringside in NY, I think this one just about tops them all.
Ok, maybe Zaire...
Used to have that doc about it: The Fight, with the build up ( Where's Joe Frazier? Anyone seen Joe Frazier??! Says Ali as he cycles round the city ) then the whole fight with no commentary.
Listen to the ring announcers in those days - none of that Buffer type bollox - he just says....And the champion....Joe.....Frazier! and the crowd errupts and the roof comes off.
More drama than the preening Buffer could ever bring I reckon.
Which was the great round before the 15th....11th was it?
And poor old Blue Eyes himself couldn't get a ticket - had to blag a photo pass and take a few shots for LIFE magazine instead

Agree, cannot stomach Buffer/Lampley HBO cheese-fest that is a HBO event... embarrassing.

You hit the nail on the head... I need to stay on the Brit forum and not stray into these unfamiliar territories... what equates a good fight in Estonia? two guys with machetes or something??

i have exchanged words with this guy cultus before...he is very anti-american and i suspect around the time of ali-frazier1 in march 1971 he was undergoing some sort of "re-education" process or indoctrination program from his local soviet commissar at his weekly "youth group" meetings!! some folks still dont realize the iron curtain has fallen!!

I still like Jimmy Lennon's introductions... Something about a big Jimmy Lennon fight when he says "really needing no introduction the world over" or sometimes changes it to "the civilised world". Something his old man used to say.

ali-frazier 1 is my favourite of the 3.
the pace is frightening for two 15 and a half stoners.
ali has that good start and then starts getting paid by a rampaging frazier.
that would be a consideration for my all time top 10 fights i think.

I agree, somepeoples idea of a great fight is rather strange... how can anyone find any of the Ali vs Frazier fights boring?.... even their second bout was an excellent fight.... I have that film 'the fight' too... I like the way you get to see the fight with no commentary as well.... why do we need commentators anyhow??....

I agree to some extent, alot of the time I'd rather have the crowd noise and no commentary, however when it's good commentary it definately adds to the fight. I love the American commentary from the fabulous four era, particularly from Leonard/Herans I and Hagler/Hearns
