Intriguing domestic dust-up for Tak's WBU welterweight title on the Calzaghe v Manfredo undercard. Who's going to win?

I can see Tak upsetting the applecart here. Just have a sneaky feeling that he could outbox Jennings. Should be a good one though.

I'm not much of a fan of Takaloo but this will be a tight contest or at least it seems it will be...

Jennings is capable but Takaloo will do his best to keep ahold of his WBU "World" Welterweight Title...

Whilst i'm not 100% either way, i'll go Jennings to mix it up a little :)

Tak in about 8 very interesting rounds.

jennings fir me on this one taks got power but if jennings doesnt get drawn in to a brawl with tak i see him outboxing him quite comfartably

Tak to win.

Think Jennings will back pedal most of the fight in an effort to cope with Tak's extra strength.

Saying that, if Tak is not comfortable then Jennings fitness and stamina may come through.

When is Tak going to court?

It seems to take Jennings a long time to recover when he get cault with a clean shot.

Think Tak is due in court around 30th April.

Two evenly matched domestic fighters...I'll go for Jennings on this one...Takaloo is a legend in his mind only!

I fancy Jennings in this one.

Takaloo didn't impress vs Magee and although I think he has more dynamite in his punches, I think Jennings is the tidier boxer.

Jennings, although he has looked vulnerable in the past, he always gets back up - If anything, the way Takaloo marks up, i'd say he is the more vulnerable one, especially in against a fluid boxer.

It is a good fight though - A must win for both of them.

Jennings to win wide on points. I see Jennings being too fast and skilful for Tak. Never really been impressed by Takaloo's skills but his power must be respected. His KO of Alexander was one of the best I have seen.

Errr. Got that the wrong way round Neri! Twas Alexander who nearly decapitated Takaloo I'm afraid!

Think Jennings is a singificantly better boxer, but he can get hurt (especially late on) and Tak has the power to hurt him.

Intriguing, but I expect Tak to find an answer when down on points.

How is Jennings doing, I have had some doubts about if he is as focused on his boxing as he once was.

interesting that most people seem to be going for Jennings - you've made me wonder whether I've got it right picking Takaloo....but no, I'll stick with my original pick.

Jennings, for me, has a padded record and has looked vulnerable against on a few occasions...I've heard he's a likeable bloke, and I wonder if people are picking him for this reason.

My reasons for picking Takaloo are:-

1) More seasoned
2) Fought at world level, remember Santos has beaten Margarito.
3) Jennings apparent fragility, i.e. Saunders, Pryce, Dragomir all rocking him, though he came back very well.
4) Most of the fighters Jennings fought have been unambitious journeymen or fighters whose best days had clearly gone Vincent, Saunders, Down. Jennings last fight was against Kovacs, who was knocked out in one round against Karl David who was around number 33 in Britian at the time. Lazlo Komathji also stopped him (he's the lightweight who fought Khan, whom allegedly said at the time was still a novice pro)
5) Jennings appears to be gun shy and seemed frightened to go too close to strong punchers such as Mutley (whose a good fighter, but mostly fought at light welter)
6) Jennings defence seems shaky and definitley didn't like the body shots that Mutley dished out.


So what do you think guys, are my reasons valid?

Good points Caster, Mutley hurt Jennings aswell. One point, hard to say quite how much Vincent has left cause he was going through such a tradegy in his personal life at the time... he couldn't have been probably focus.

Yes Stu, definitley agree with you regarding Jimmy - plus he'd not fought for 2 years!! I just feel Jennings may be about to be exposed, but I may have got it wrong and time will tell...

Thought he already had been by Pryce(ish) and Mutley.

jennings wins this fight clearly on points.he will outbox takaloo who thinks he is a world star and clearly struggles at the weight which sapps his strength and power and all this nonsense about a change is good when he went to oliver harrisons,when word on the street is that he gone back to jim mcdonnell and he is now training him for the fight.not the ideal preparation is it?

Just talked to Tak on the phone and he sounded his usual upbeat self and was surprised that the poll has most people going for Jennings, but said he is raring to go and looks forward to proving everyone wrong on April 7.

He said he's feeling in great shape and is having some excellent sparring which he hopes will give him a real edge on the night.

He feels people are forgetting that Jennings' boxing skills didn't stop him getting hurt by nearly all the half-decent domestic fighters he has faced and that he is ready for a tough fight but thinks Jennings is made for him.

you keep dwelling on the fact that jennings has been hurt in certain fights but he has come back and won,even the fight he lost i had him winning against muttley.I think him bein hurt is more down to lack of concentration than bein abit chinny has i have seen all jennings fights.takaloo has fought santos who is world level and lost and even lost to monteiro who is very limited.you may say jennings record is padded but who has takaloo actually beaten who is better than muttley or pryce?
