Ron had a good innings and had boxing in his blood. He loved it. Even though I am 34 I have always enjoyed his work.
A great loss to Boxing

Welcome to Ringside in the courts of the kings Mr. Olver, a chance to see and speak to ALL the greats you knew and admired and a place where all debates are ceased, you now know with all certainty who the greatest Ring warriors of all time are!
Enjoy the 'eternal' events and thank you for a lifetime of contribution to the Sport, and what a great sport too.
God Bless you from the Gilroy camp, whom you were both helpful to and supportive of. See you at the fights.

Even though I'm only 22, I enjoyed reading Ron's work in Boxing News. Boxing was in his blood & this was confirmed by the way he still compiled work when he was ill.
Reading Ron's column, he often had great stories to tell, of which would bring a smile to my face. A great ambassador for the sport & a real loss for Boxing.
My condolences to Ron's family.

Very sad but he'd been battling ill health for a while now. I used to send him boxing related articles from my local press and used to get a kick whenever he thanked me in his column.
Wonder if someone else will take it over.

Apparently, yes, but they are massive shoes to fill. For the younger readers who buy BN, these columns seem irrelevant...you know you are getting older when a couple of the names you liked as a kid start popping up.
Great column, a real loss to boxing - top man, Ron Olver.

he is the ideal man for the job and in many ways is like ron, quiet ,considered, respected and liked by all
