They responded to my e-mail by pointing me in the direction of their press release.
There has been a great deal of comment both from members of the public and within the press about the scoring of the above contest, and confusion about whether or not points deducted by Referee Mickey Vann against Derry Matthews were accounted for in the final score.
Whilst the Stewards of the Board recognise the right of the World Boxing Union to formulate its own Rules and Regulations the Stewards are mindful of their own responsibilities in respect of every aspect of a boxing tournament within their jurisdiction.
Therefore the Stewards have called upon the World Boxing Union to simplify their Rules and Regulations in respect of deduction of points to ensure that they accord with that of every other major championship organisation throughout the world so as to avoid any possible confusion in the future, prior to the Board sanctioning any further WBU contests within its jurisdiction.
