Did anyone catch the 5 live Interview?

sad, sad story that - Ingle was a lovely boxer, with guts, superb workrate and high accuracy.

It is the shame the way Ingle has been forgotten so it seems, why are there no benifit nights etc for him?.... another story that shows the need for some sort of insurance and pension for fighters, especially if they get hurt...

We should find a way to look after our own fighters. Ingle was a terrific fighter to watch. His fight with Colin McMilan - between former & future world titlists - was unforgettable. Honest, value for money pro. Non of this fake title crap with Ingle. He went the traditional route and did himself proud.

Saddening to hear those views from him. Hope things get better for him.

I'll never forget Paul Ingle.

So it is fair to day that Paul Ingle's lacklustre performance and possibly his injuries were basically the cause of losing too much weight too quickly before his fight or was there some other reason? From what I remember he looked knackered very early on and got nowhere near his usual fight pace - like he had the flu or something.

Great fighter who gave it all. Surely there should be a benefit for Paul.

To be blunt the fight was allowed to go on far too long, it was clear from the early going that Paul wasnt right and after the 6th round I started getting a bad feeling as he was taking a steady drubbing, if the fight had been stopped at this point I'm sure Paul wount have suffered the severe injuries that he did... it was one of the worst cases I've seen of a fighter being sent out round after round when it was clear that he wasnt going to win.... I cant say I'm surprised that he's bitter but I hope he can get over that and find some fulfilment, doesnt sound like he;s having much help at all...

i saw paul a while back in Scarborough, what can i say, he looked quite big and im sure he has split from his long time girl and now lives with his mum. I have a large phot of paul in my door way which he sined, great yorkshire boxer, who nearly did the job on Hamed.

Very sad, yet understanable that Paul feels so bitter and let down by the sport of Boxing, fighters like Paul Ingle should not just be cast aside now they are no longer able to thrill and entertain us.

I was ringside the night Paul Ingle lost to Mbulelo Botile and saw him leave the ring in a bad way. From about the 4th or 5th round it was obvious that Ingle was just not himself. By the 8th I was shouting for the fight to be stopped as there was something wrong, it was plain to see.

Weight making was without a doubt a major factor Paul was well known for ballooning between fights and dropping a lot of weight in the final run up to fights.

But he paid a terrible price and I just hope that he can find some peace and happiness in life.

Is there anyway we can write to Paul, maybe a few letters of us hardcore fans may cheer him up, if only a little? Just a thought.

Yeah, I remember Mcguigan commenting on his weight making before the Botile fight... shouldnt point the finger perhaps but surely the people around him should have helped Ingle keep a grip on his weight?.... Ricky Hatton should take note of what happened to Paul, I find Hattons continual yo-yoing in weight rather worrying... one day you can push your body too far and thats it...

Wasn' there some kind of link between BBN and Paul Ingle's site? I don't know if he has the sitre anymore. I think someone should make a BIG effort. The kind of effort that was made for McClellan. If we're such a charitable lot, why can't anyone get up and do something for one of our own?

Paul Ingles website has been 'offline' for a while now.

Its a shame that noones tried to get him involved in anything (as far as I know) I know he says that he hates boxing now but poerhaps if he was given a chance to assist some young boxers or something like that it would do him a world of good... I think much of his dislike for the game now is probably down to him feeling abandoned by it...
...also why isnt he having some sort of physiopherapy... sure ly he can improve his condition if he's given the right help... someone needs really to go out of their way a bit and try and help this guy... its the least he deserves... its just not right the way he's been treated.

Paul used to train out of Hull at Steve Pollards gym. he was a member of Edgehill boxing club in scarborough im sure you could find more info at one of these.

i remember when ingle won the title and he toured Scarborough in an open top bus, we went to see him there, he was throwing teashirts and we were lucky enough to catch 2 of them. i went to see a question and answer session too at a theatre in scarborough, Barry mcguigan was there with paul and he couldnt say enough about ingle. It should be McGuigan who is helping paul through tough times, he runs the Boxers Union doesnt he?? isnt that why boxers pay union fees. I belive ingle lost his home in Scalby near scarborough and now lives back at home, i think in Eastfield but im not sure. There in a new housing estate quite near to Eastfield called Ingle Drive which i thought was a nice gesture.

i have lots of boxing autographs but the one ive shown is the only one i display, my others including Hearns and Lennox Lewis are in the attic along with Feeney, Gary mason Bruno, Eubanks amongst others.

Just read the article, quite sad.

The last time i saw Ingle was in Scarborough and he must weigh at least 15 stone and had a part of his skull missing. not sure if thats normal due to head injuries but if you saw it it may discourage you from the fighting game. You would never reconise him if you didnt know him. he has several family members who are youngsters in the boys club ranks. they are living on his legacy.

I don't think his opponent that night ever won a fight again, either.
