whats everyones view on the HW fight?

Bonin hasn't lost since he fought harrison and many thought that was a dogey stoppage (not me). I suppose officially he is stepping up to HW not sure if I think that is a good idea... I'll be interested to see where he weighs in.

Whats the view of:
1) the move to HW
2) the opponent

Bonin is a stocky compact fighter.....does everything ok without having any outstanding skills.....not a hard hitter but will be a tough nut to crack.... i suspect hayes bombs will have more of an impact than audley's......

Hayes foray into the HWs is a natural progression.... like maccarinelli and US banger Jonathon Banks its a question of when as opposed to why ? or how ? these are 6ft4 boxers with KO punch power ...the HW div NEEDs them.

My understanding is its a one off HW fight for Haye and then back to CW - In his own words he says he wants to clean up at CW, which hopefully means a fight with Macca - It wouldnt be a clean up unless the two met - Then he wants to be a full time HW and go for a title - Bonin is a good choice for testing the HW waters - As to whether Haye can be successful at HW is another matter - I think someone like Skelton would be far too much for him and a trim slim Danny Williams might also be, Krence I think would be a better option and thats just the domestic opposition - He has come a long way since the Thompson fight, learned how to pace himself and worked hard building up his stamina thus earning a place as a top world CW but can he get into that position at HW, I just dont know.

If Haye landed a bomb early on Williams, he'd have a good chance of stopping him. Danny's punch resistance is very poor these days, and even fairly innocuous looking shots have him reeling around the ring.

It will be interesting to see how this fight goes, if, as I suspect, Haye is unable to make much of an impression on Bonin, I think we can forget any notion of Haye trailblazing at heavyweight.

Haye is very determined to pave a career as a Heavyweight because he struggles to shed the two stone to make Crusier...

Should he defeat Bonin (I think he will) and pick up a Cruiser title after, he won't stay at Cruiser... He has said himself on so many occaisions that he wants to fight as a Heavy due to him walking around at a solid 16st+.. At 6'3 also, he isn't exactly short...

The fact he's said he wants to be a Heavy and struggles hugley to make Cruiser, every time he speaks, it's amazing why people are still puzzled about this fairly basic conundrum...

Haye wants to be a Heavy... He will be long-term... I can't see him changing his mind after going on about it this long...

How successful he will be though, is a different and more difficult question altogether.

I do wonder though, if Haye struggles to make an impression with his punches on Bonin, whether this might make him reconsider his foray into the heavyweight division?

I've got my doubts about Haye's power up at heavyweight myself. But as Bonin was dropped by a debutant (one with absolutely no technique at all) in his last fight, I'm not sure this will be the fight that will answer the question of whether or not Haye's punches can have an impact at heavyweight.

I think Haye, through his determination to be a Heavy, may try a few fights at the weight before forming a thought on how he far he can go at that weight...

This (for me) is very interesting to watch and see what happens for Haye in the next 18 - 24 months.

I'm more worried about his chin, he almost got knocked out by LOLENGA MOCK! Yes it was a temple shot, but if Maskaev catches him on the temple, Haye'll be more than disoriented...

This Bonin guys record says he sucks and that Haye will win but records aren't what they always seem.

I think this is the most intriguing fight for a while.

the thing that worries me and that I admier most about haye is that he is taking a fight that he could well loose which will not neccesseraly help his carrer situation out if he wins just to prove himself.

If he takes a hard HW Knock and goes down Moch style he can kiss his shot at bell goodbuy

If a guy as clueless and talentless as Audley could keep Bonin basically under control for 9 rds, Haye with his natural ability should have no problem with him.

Absolutely, Haye should do OK against Bonin and I would bet on him taking out Harrison as well - As I said earlier not sure he can dominate at HW as he is doing at CW.

I think it's a fairly dangerous fight - Bonin is similar to the Italian HAye last fought, but bigger.

I think it's a tough fight for David's first foray into the heavyweights.

The Harrison stoppage was premature and Bonin has gone unbeaten since.

I think David deserves respect for this fight.

April 27th at the new Wembley Arena...

Getting dropped by a novice last time out means Haye might be advised to test the man's chin early, I doubt he wants to hang around and risk going 10 with a much bigger fighter.

Hide moved up and his punch still got him respect ( to a certain level ) and I think Haye will be still be classed as a vicious puncher, even a 200+

I think he might blast this guy out early.
