This is bizzare, still havent heard a thing even in the NZ media?
Either the fight never took place or Betham was KO'd in which case the'd probably try hush it up!

Good stuff. How far do you think Betham can go?

Firstly, Betham will be well looked after, he has Mick Watson as his manager and some good backers here in NZ including Matthew Ridge. He will always be physically fit and well conditioned he's very professional in his approach which is a reflection of his professional league days. He has good advice in the form of his father Monty Betham Sr. and a good trainer in Daniel Codling. Monty is tough, with a big heart and will never quit.
All hte above things are key ingridents in becomming a successful fighter, but questions like can he take a punch? can he punch himself? how does he move? whats his jab like? cano nly be answered after hes fought a few more times, it may take longer. Remember he's entering the sport with no Amateur background so has to learn in the pros so he'll be moved slowerly. There are not alot of Cruiserweights in NZ so i imagine alot of Aussie fighters will be used, i just hope he stays away from any BIG heavyweights in his bid to find fights.
In all honesty I think he'll do well down here in Australasia he may pick up some regional titles like the IBF Pan-Pac and the WBO Asia-Pacific etc but at 28, time might not be on his side to push for anything on the world stage. I feel he'll get shown up bad against any experienced international fighter.
But i hope he goes well, he'll be good for the fight game here in NZ.

Just watched Betham fight Trevor Loomes. Right from his entrance you could tell Betham was a no nonsense fighter. He stalked his opponent and threw good punches from different angles. I think he has a fair bit to offer. I also thought he seemed displeased with his opponent, like he wanted more of a challenge, that can only be a good sign!
