Doubt he'll win too many friends round here with the interview  - I never heard any of this myself if it was on last night I only watched the fights. At least hes talking about the domestic challenges, hopefully 1 of them will come off

Amir Khan rounded on his British rivals after securing his 12th professional victory in Cardiff on Saturday.

Khan stopped Steffy Bull before stating he wanted to challenge British champion Jonathan Thaxton later this year.

"There are a few fighters I'd love to fight just to shut their mouths. They're scared," said 20-year-old Khan.

"Thaxton is made for my style, he's a come-forward fighter and I've got the hand speed to pick him off and stay away from his bombs."

Norwich's Thaxton, 32, won the Lonsdale belt from Lee Meager last December and has defended it once, against Stoke's Scott Lawton last month.

Bolton's Khan, an Olympic silver medallist in 2004, added: "If you watched him against Ricky Hatton, Hatton gave him a boxing lesson, and I'd do the same.

"Then there's Commonwealth super featherweight champion Kevin Mitchell, although he's gone a bit quiet lately.

He has incredible hand speed, power, confidence, everything. The kid is going to be a superstar

Sugar Ray Leonard on Amir Khan

"And former British lightweight champion Graham Earl, although he's been quiet since the last fight he had."

Earl's last bout was a brutal WBO interim title defeat to Australia's Michael Katsidis in February.

Manchester's John Murray, the WBC Youth champion and 2006 British boxing writers' young fighter of the year, also challenged Khan last week, but Khan shrugged off the 22-year-old's claims.

"I've sparred with Murray and played around with him and he's not even on my level," said Khan.

"I'm happy for him that he's fighting in America on the undercard of Oscar de la Hoya-Floyd Mayweather on 5 May.

"But I think everyone knows who's better. They're scared and they want a big pay-day. But I'm not scared, I'll fight anyone."

Khan said that his fight against Doncaster boxer Bull was another important lesson, despite it lasting less than three rounds.

"The guy made me think - instead of me just going in there and throwing punches I learnt how to fight someone who is travelling backwards," said Khan.

"I had to change my style and keep on putting pressure on. I wanted him to come forward at one point, but then I thought 'I'm catching him, so I'll keep on doing what I'm doing'."

Promoter allegedly confirmed that Khan's next fight would be for a title, but did not say whether it would be for the British crown.

"Amir fought a guy who was very defensive, thought about what he was doing, slowed it down and hit him with good body shots," said Warren.

Maccarinelli defended his title in Cardiff

"Amir will have a title fight in July, but I don't know which. It's very difficult to see how you can hold him back."

Meanwhile, American legend Sugar Ray Leonard, who was in Peter Manfredo's corner for his fight with Joe Calzaghe, said Khan was destined for greatness.

"He has incredible hand speed, power, confidence, everything. As long as he's moved correctly and patiently, the kid is going to be a superstar," said Leonard.

Warren said that Enzo Maccarinelli could be manoeuvred into a unification fight this summer.

Wales' Maccarinelli defended his WBO cruiserweight belt with a first-round stoppage of American Bobby Gunn in Cardiff.

"We'd like to make a fight with France's WBC and WBA champion Jean Marc Mormeck," said Warren.

"Mormeck is supposed to be fighting London's European champion David Haye, but I think it's debatable that Haye will ever make the weight again.

"And then there's Poland's IBF champion Krzystof Wlodarczyk - we'll be making him an offer on Monday for a unification.

"I think Enzo is one of - if not the - hardest punchers in the world. If he catches you, you're gone."

Okay, so he'll fight anyone but when someone calls him out he just dismisses it as "Everyone knows I'd beat him anyway" and "He's scared" and moves on to the next subject.

You can avoid pretty much any fight if you go down the route of "There's no point in fighting an unbeaten prospect cause I'd beat him so I'll fight a 12-3-2 punch bag instead". Surely if he is so sure he'd beat him then a 20-0 opponent would look so much better on his record than a 12-3-2

thing with Warren is, he can put on a heap of steaming shit like last night, but can also deliver the proper big nights of boxing. When he talks of Calzaghe-Taylor or Macca-Mormeck you don't believe him, but on evidence ie Calzaghe-Lacy, Hatton-Tszyu - he's the man who can deliver.

How many times in the last 10 years has he delivered though? Also Lacy was easy to make because he wanted Calazage. Tyszu was fairly easy to make because Gatti and Mayweather were on other TV networks. Harris wouldn't bring as much money and Cotto didn't want the fight.

Well, he has a golden goose in the Millennium Stadium. Having Hatton as a draw in Manchester plus Showtime's interest, made Hatton-Tszyu possible...Tszyu being near the end and wanting big money helped too...

Now we have the parallel with Calzaghe and an HBO contract. HBO also like Taylor and Kessler very much, and grudgingly give Hops and Winky air space because of who promotes them...Ok, so Kessler obviously doesn't want to risk it all. Taylor wants to retire in '08. So he doesn't need to protect his title.

Taylor could happen.

Arrgh bollox! He should take the Murry fight if he believes in himself. After this in his 12th fight Warren can no longer say a word about audleys or any other up and commings abilities.

Its all so tediouse and predictable, Kahn seems a nice kid but warren is ruining the boy.

he's is talking rubbish when he doesnt need to be so arrogant.
i'd like to remind him that ricky hatton himself puts jon thaxton among his best opponents.

....apart from John Murray it seems.

If he's not on your level Amir then prove it. The slot is there, on a big card. You've called out the other British guys and somebody, more capable than Stefy Bull, has answered it, so you've got what you wanted, but you seem to be the one backing down and not living up to your own hype. I don't see your logic in saying that Murray is scared so he's willing to fight you, but you're not scared but you don't see the need to fight him? Can anybody honestly say that makes sense? Amir, tone it down and back up your mouth with your hands, you'll get the respect then.

absolutly the people who voted murry young boxer of the year clearly think that there is a question about who is the best.

Terence wrote:There is no reason why these two lads cannot fight in the USA in May; win, lose or draw they can move on and learn from the fight.
there is one seriously big reason

Money

amir has a deal with FW and im pritty sure ITV, they aint going to let there cash cow fight on another channel in his biggest challage to date

ffs people 'We' (big boxing fans) should no this !!!!!!!!!!

if murray wants the fight he should offer his services to a FW Card - there is no other option

Khan is the draw, like it or not

Posted: 08 Apr 2007, 16:06

but its on a sky channel, sky sports

it aint going to happen so there is no point even discussing it

if Murray wants to fight amir he needs to be realistic, its ITV or nothing, so why bother offering the fight except for abit of publicity for himself.

he should defo offer his belt on the line for khan next itv bill, if they dont take it then khan/his team will be ducking murray, but until then in my eyes murray is doing the ducking (strange logic i no)

and for what it is worth Khan would beat him - ive no doubt

Fight Hatton then.
But I think everyone knows who's better.
You think wrong. I don't know who's better Amir, you'd have to fight John.
I had to change my style and keep on putting pressure on.
What's this, the famous Whack-a-Mole style? Faces pop-up and you hit them?
Sugar Ray Leonard said Khan was destined for greatness.
He certainly said that. Who wrote this rubbish?

Khan doesn't have the inherent confidence to say these things with any authority. It's talk riding on the back of external hype. He'd shit himself on the ring walk to a fight with a Katsidis or Witter. Any solid 'gatekeeper level' boxer would give him plenty of 'things to learn'. Getting hit, most notably.

This is the thing, it's all well and good refining your attack and movement, but the real learning comes through tackling adversity. Without a challenge very soon, Khan's going to put himself out of future contention; you don't find the heart to dig in overnight.

Sure you don't match him against opponents you'd favour to win, but it's imperative to grow accustomed to hard work. Thankfully, I'm preaching to the converted here. My prediction is that we're currently looking at the next Audley; another wasted talent.

But those are just two shows in the last 15 years???.... hardly evidence that FW delivers is it?!... what about all the big fights that have fallen through?.... many of Warrens shows are simply laughable>... Jennings vs Takaloo for the world 147 title??.... really you couldnt make it up if you tried... the sad thing is the punters keep taking it and coming back for more, you have to admire Frank, ...he could sell ice to an eskimo no doubt...

I've always been a fan of Limmonds and think he is a very good Boxer at domentic level, but he does lack punch power and has been inactive of late. Having said all that he would be by some way the best fighter Khan has faced as a professional and would be a very good match, later this year (to allow Willie a tune up bout or two).

ARROGANT LITTLE FCUKER.

My thoughts exactly. Sport on mate!

Amir, I'd be careful if I were you. If you keep this sort of arrogance up, then very soon, the tide could well turn and they'll be more people wishing you crumble, rather than do well. It takes nothing to be polite & humble. Khan is not showing these attributes.

God knows who's advising Amir, but whoever it is, it can't be very wise. Fancy coming out with comments like this. Making such statements, in such an arrogant way, is disrespectful to his peers, who have worked hard to get where they are & have probably not even got have the financial incentive Amir has.

If I were Khan, I'd remember what happened to Naseem. Hamed was a brilliant fighter, but when he was defeated, undone, exposed, I got the feeling there were more people glad rather than upset.

Yeah, but dont you get the feeling that he's going to be left hanging around waiting for the fight till its his first bout for a year or so?.... meaning that he will be lacking a bit of edge at least??....
