BOXING champ Amir Khan is making a Jamie Oliver-style series for Channel 4 in which he helps self-confessed angry men cool it.

Amir, 20, will try to get them to focus their aggression on sports like his. Amir said' this programme will be similar to bad lads army, but with a boxing theme. eight kids have been selected after being involved in misbehaviour because they're not going down the right channels. they're my age and I know where they are coming from. I'll teach them some discipline and they will train with me'. Amir insisted 'I can get through to them because I know what they do. I know where they're coming from so I wont be too harsh on them'.

Amir’s show airs in october.

hmm, sounds like a good idea. he should come to where i live, plaistow east london, and try to train a few of the local nutcases/knifers

these guys are probably far more dangerous than anyone khans yet to face in a boxing ring and i'm surprised waarren has let him do it.

To be fair, Amir's well qualified as I'd imagine that part of the discipline he will show is to back away from fights when somebody challenges you. Nice o see his skills being put to good use :D

Pathetic really, so much for the hungry young boxer willing to fight anyone and become a legend... Amir seems to be already thinking about his retirement...

Amir is just cashing in while he can. He knows he's a rubbish boxer. He's not even going to be a contender at domestic level let alone World level. He'll make as much money as he can. He'll fight bums for another 5 fights then step up in class a little against someone like Graham Earl. IF. He does beat Graham Earl. He'll then fight bums for another 5 or 6 fights until every one is pi$$ed with him. Then he'll take a bigger step up in class and get KTFO. That will be the end of Amir Khan with a nice couple of £ in the bank.

In 2011 he'll be on celebrity big brother.

He should try and fight a decent opponent if he wants to raise his profile... Khan is turning into a miniture Audely Harrison imo...

Kahn should get them to focus their agression on his face, then we'd all be better off.

Poor guy, even his show gets pre-judges before it is underway.

He shouldnt have the time to be doing a soppy TV show though, whats next?... Big Brother?.... I'm a Celebrity get me out of here??.... Celebrity Dancing on ice??.... all this from a guy of 20 who has fought noone since he turned pro yet proclaims himself the best in Britain??.... when Audely behaved in a simular way he was criticised heavily by FW but now Warren is allowing Khan to do the same thing....

Exactly.

Let's go back to the beginning of Audley's career, when he has refused to sign with Frank.

Audley has crashed his car (his expensive one of course, and one he has bought himself, eh boxingchat). He has called out Frank's fighters, had his challenge met only to backtrack. He has then negotiated himself his own TV show, and is embracing his celebrity.

Now, what do you think Frank's reaction would have been?

Potential to go where mate? He has a siliver medal, Audley has a gold. Hes won 12 fights, Audley won 12 fights (against better bums than Khans bums).

What have you seen of Amir that makes him so great?

I wouldnt be surprised if Thaxton or Earl chin him ala Sprott. I think Earl and Thaxton tend to hit back, unlike Amirs opponents.

If you cannot see byond pure PR/hype/spin and Barry McGuigans insane ramblings maybe you should stop posting on this forum?

To suggest Khan has no potential is plainly ridiculous. Just how great that potential is, is yet to be seen, but for his age and level of experience he is clearly blessed with a lot of natural talent.

I wouldn't fancy him against the likes of Thaxton right now, but so what, he's hardly an experienced pro is he? How many guys with 12 fights at lightweight would you favour to beat Thaxton right now?

Posted: 17 Apr 2007, 06:04
by overhand_right
Any lightweight who can be "world champion next year" and is "destined to be great" should be able to beat Thaxton after 12 fights.

So what if Khan is running his mouth a bit, he's a cocky young lad, what do you bloody well expect.

As I said, name me a 12 fight novice that you would favour to beat Thaxton right now then.

James i do not closely follow the current crop of lightweight prospects around the world. However-

The likes of Floyd Mayweather, Diego Corrales, Joel Casamayor, and Stevie Johnston would beat up Thaxton after 10 or 12 fights with no touble.

Johnston beat Sharmba Mitchell in his 12th fight for christs sake.

If you've got a fighter you know is sh#t hot, you dont repeatedly match him with bums because you dont need to. You do that to protect guys who cant really fight but can make money. See Nikolay Valuev, any number of white heavyweights through the years etc...
