WOW, they'll have to line some pockets to get this 1 sanctioned, is Rees even top10 in Britain? Maybe a good business tactic by Warren - get Mbaiye fighting Brits on his books. All the locals will buy tickets to watch a Brit getting a title shot despite the fact he may not have a chance. Bet Warren wishes he had Witter, Lynes, Bami on his books

btw, if Enzo's fighting on the same card, his opponent won't be Wlodarczyk, as he appears to be giving Cunningham a rematch next month.

Alex Arthur is on that bill. I heard Gavin was on the May 26 show. For what its worth, I reckon he could have a chance if he gets his act together. Rees has much more talent than he is given credit for.

Sorry, got my info wrong. MBaye-Rees on 26th. Enzo and Arthur lined up for July 7.

Wayward is the word that springs to mind when I think of Rees..

all I can say is rees is not even in the british top ten, the best opponent he's faced is 12-3-1 Martin Watson and he's really a lightweight. Its a shame that for most of his career he's been left on the shelf for what reason I don't know - he's a bit like Gary Lockett in that sense that he's kept winning but they havent really givin him any real fights - but its a bit of a disgrace that he's allowed to box for the "world" title. Didnt the WBA reject Graham Earl as a challenger for M'baye? Surely they will do the same for Rees ?

Yes they did reject Earl, this should not get sanctioned. Its a mismatch.

Being a Welshman I support Gavin and really think he is a very underated fighter. But can't see how he can be affective at light welter. I've stood next to him I'm only 5 6" and he was a few inches shorter than me. I would say a lightweight at best.

I was hoping that they would put him in with Khan.

i stood next to him in the urinals and he was also a good few inches shorter than me...

Rees has wasted enough years , he's been a pro for nine years, and needs to move up.
It is a very big jump in quality of opposition, but Rees has a good gym and trainer in Enzo Calzaghe, it could end in a blow out ( Barrera v Lloyd, Santos v Sinclair) will have to see what happens when Rees gets hit with a big punch.
Or Rees can rise to the occasion and show us what he's made of.

Mbaye is keeping the seat warm for Khan; he certainly won't be fighting Kotelnik again if they can help it...

Why was Oliver Harrison In his corner then for the Kotelnik fight and I'm sure McKenzie said M'Baye changed to Harrison?

Yes on paper its a mismatch M'baye been in with world class where as Rees best win is probably martin watson. Rees loves his food a bit too much and shoud be a super feather, M'baye tko 5

Had to bring this one back up, because I was looking through the alphabet rankings earlier. Now, you won't believe this boys, but Rees is now, amazingly enough, ranked in the WBA top 15. Now, you might well wonder how the Welshman went from nowhere to being an acceptable challenger, because his only fight this year has been against Billy Smith. Some cynics would say that it's because the WBA are corrupt, but not me. Oh no. Not at all.

Earl's done more than Ree's yet weirdly the WBA refused him as a challenger to M"baye.

Whilst I'm resurrecting this thread, this is worth mentioning.

M'Baye is going to have to have a third fight with the Ukrainian, providing he beats Rees. Kotelnik just beat former Khan victim Lazlo Komjathi, and according to fightnews, the winner of M'baye-Rees has to face Kotelnik within 90 days.

M'Baye made Laszlo quit though.

Witter, Lynes and Bami, they'll set the world on fire them three? Witter what's happening with him? The most inactive WBC champion ever, maybe?

All three could have a shot at M'Baye if they wanted it!

I think we all know that's not true!

Anyway Rees-M'baye is a bit of a farce if you ask me, Rees is an overweight underachiever who has no claim to a "world title" shot of any description and M'baye is good European level at best.

Mbaye will win easily imo.
