Not sure if all the fights are still on... but the card is building up nicely with 4 intriguing fights.

Much talked about Patrick Maxwell has a bit of a step up when he faced Paul Buchanon... who recently fought in the contender UK vs USA series and recently drew against Wayne Pinder. Over 8 rounds.

Robert Lloyd Taylor fights the guy who floored Khan but has suffered his first pro loss, Craig Watson. This is a tough fight back for Watson as Taylor is compedent and recently more than likely ended the championship career of James Hare.

Peter Oboh makes a return after an age of uncontrollable absence.... its not an easy one straight into a British title defence against Toney Oakey (whose also been inactive).

Of course the main event see David Haye face Bonin.

Hope Sky do these four fights justice.

If Haye stops Bonin before the halfway mark then you'd think they would be able to show all the other fights. Although Sky are giving Haye the big sell at the moment so expect them to be talking about him for quite a while after the fight

Some interesting fights there, Bonin isn't the biggest heavy, but he's still not a bad boxer.
If Bonin is still there after 6 rounds then this could get interesting. Mind you Bonin was floored and shook to his boots in the 1st by the awful Pavel Silvin in his last fight, so maybe his punch resistence is going.

Good to see the British light heavy title back on the line, Peter Oboh has wasted on the side lines, Tony Oakey is tough and comes to fight , but i think his lack of a KO punch will cost him here. I don't think Tony can hurt Oboh and this will lead to him being stopped late on. But would love to see Oakey pull off an upset.

Patrick J Maxwell has been talked about for the last couple of years , but he's another one who needs to get some momentum in his career, he's 28 now and can't afford to hang around. Buchanan will test him, and may win this one, he's put in decent performances in his last couple(even if he didn't win them) . If Maxwell doesn't come prepared then he may slip up. But i'm going for him to be the first to stop Buchanan.

Lloyd Taylor should win on points against Watson.

I'm not sure I agree with your Lloyd Taylor vs Watson pick.... I think it will depend on how well Watson has recovered since the Fewkes set back. I think Fewkes has more ability than Lloyd Taylor...who I am sure Hare flattered.

Watson seemed a bit overwhelmed when he fought Fewkes, he wasn't throwing enough and got hurt to the body a few times, maybe he hadn't trained as hard as he should have. Saying all that he did stun Fewkes at the end of the fight.
This fight is also at Welter so Lloyd-Taylor will have a bit of a size advantage, Don't think that Watson has the punch or workrate to win this one.

Just looking at the odds for the Haye v Bonin fight, and for round predictions Stan James has bonin at very long odds if you want to bet on a certain round for him to knock out Haye.

check it out

A fiver on haye in each of the first five rounds looks a nice little earner with a garaunteed profit of twenty sheets if he puts him away.

Think you need to "brush up" a bit (J/K).

Actually you should have been right.... Lloyd Taylor is physically so much better than Watson. All his problems, at this level, is mental. He had everything over Watson - who was smaller, cruder and slower.

Quite how Amir Khan got floored amazed me. I cannot see how Watson actually landed. As a pro he's looked very predicable and crude.

I actually am not sure what is Watson best stance. He looks "awkard" as a Southpaw... leaden footed and his jab seemed off balance. I've seen a few guys in the sparring ring who couldn't handle southpaws for toffee and the only way they could be half decent against them is by fighting southpaw themselves. Watson reminded me of these, just awkard not looking comfortable. Also, I noticed that when Lloyd Taylor did attack, Watson would back up and then re-adjust (briefly) as an authordox before switich back.... again making me think is he a converted authodox.

However, when he did fight authodox he again looked unconfortable.

Lloyd Taylor could be a decent fighter within the top ten... if he wanted it. I don't think Watson will progress any further.

Yeah i got that one wrong didn't I :D
As you say it was there for Lloyd-Taylor to win, but he just didn't let it go enough. Maybe he didn't train hard enough, or he has some serious stamina problems.
Watson is hard working , but i agree with you on his level, Fewkes handled him with ease really. But hats off to Watson for last nights effort, he just wanted it more.
After 4 rounds last night i had the fight even, and thought Lloyd-Taylor would start to pull away, but he went into his shell and let Watson t off on him.
I think there was only 1 body punch thrown all night, and that decked Robert.
Did you think Booth was to laid back in the corner, I thought he should have had a go between rounds 5/6, let Taylor know that he wasn't performing. Obviously Booth knows his fighters far better than me, but just thought Lloyd-Taylor needed a bollocking.

Also that was the first look i've had of Patrick J Maxwell, he started off quite well, but faded down the strech , looks as if he's got to work on his stamina as well. He also has very skinny legs!!

Middleweight from the waist up, welterweight from the waist down = light-middleweight.

I thought he deserved the nod.

I thought Maxwell vs Ajetovic was a weird fight. Two hyped up fighters (Maxwell via his talk on boxing forums) and Ajetovic was hyped up an awful lot by Sky and his earlier promoter (was it Fight Academy?). Amazed that 2 years down the line from this hype they are fighting down the card.

I thought a draw was a fair verdict, possibly a little unfair on Ajetovic.

What a dissapointment Ajectovic has been. He really looks like he will never recover from the Canclaux set back.

Was that Gary "Showgun" Logan doing the undercard MC work? I sure did look and sound like him. Always thought he had potential to earn a good few bob at that and be on the bigger bouts in the UK (he'll never be a Jimmy Lennon Jnr, Michael Buffer).

Was that working the corner in one of the fights (think it was Patrick Maxwell's)?

Yes, it was. Gary did the undercard MC'ing at Dudley the week before as he came and sat next to me during Hickman-Reid.
