If Scott Dann Is out so should Kelly since he retired.
If I dare eh? Nah I'm too busy laughing at Hatton above Calzaghe and Eastman at No 8.

Howard Eastman struggles to get by Evans Ashira - move up 2 places.
Carl Froch - dismantles Sergey Tatesvyan in a fashion that screems world class - moves down below Howard.
Any explanation?
I've moved Howard down significantly from my P4P top ten cause of that display... he looked faded too me.

Tatesvyan was Euro class though how does It scream world class?

Tsukiyomi wrote:Tatesvyan was Euro class though how does It scream world class?
Because world class fighters couldn't do that.
I think there is a very fine line between European and world class and again depends on your definition of the term. Tatesvyan has beaten the current and the undefeated former EBU titlest - so he's maybe a little more than European class, maybe fringe world class in his own right.
What ever he is, he is better than Evans Ashira.

Terrible list imo, don't know where i start, well the top 3 i guess.
Noway can Hatton possibly be above Calzaghe
Woods can't be a top 3 imo, Froch would destroy him for starters and that's giving away 10/15 pounds.
I could go on for along time with that list tbh, well done for trying though.

Dann has been inactive as well as retiring with a serious injury, Kelly has been more active and can come back at any time, so they are slightly different scenarios.

If you post your own list then you can put Calzaghe at the top and Eastman wherever you like. But, if you are too busy laughing then so be it.

Woods has got to be 3 or 4 surely? Not too many other Brits have wins against the likes of Johnson, Gonzalez and Hoye including Haye and Froch.

by sweetscience
i didnt think woods won the johnson fight and he seems to have gone no where quick
so ive ranked the other above him for recent performances and 2007 potential
you may say potential has nowt to do with it, but i think the reason they havent had the 'breaks' is more promotional problems than lack of talent

Scott Hrrison looks unlikely to fight again surely?

Well one reason Eastman moved up two places was the Maccarinelli WBO title defence farce, which I felt deserved some punishment. The other reason was that Eastman picked up the Commonwealth belt and beat a fringe World class fighter.
Froch beat Tatevosyan in March and climbed quite a few places for doing so. Eastman fought in April and picked up a decent scalp, and in my opinion deserved a ranking climb for that, and that meant overtaking Froch, who is perhaps on better form.
Also I have noticed on my list that inactivity is punished very little, so I am trying to reward decent victories more than I was previously, so those who are inactive move down faster, this may lead to a few somewhat generous ranking increases, but I think it could work out better in the long run.
stujones wrote:I've moved Howard down significantly from my P4P top ten cause of that display... he looked faded too me.
I don't move fighters down if they win, or move them up if they lose, so I couldn't have moved Eastman down following his win anyway.
I will wait and see how much he really has faded by watching his next few contests, and make a better assessment then.

Ouch.
HairyBoxe24 wrote:Noway can Hatton possibly be above Calzaghe
Hatton is the undiputed Champion of his division, the same cannot be said for Calzaghe. In my opinion wins over Tszyu, Maussa, Colazzo and Urango are better than wins over Ashira, Lacy, Bika and Manfredo. Therefore I believe it is quite possible to rank Hatton over Calzaghe in the P4P rankings.
HairyBoxe24 wrote:Woods can't be a top 3 imo, Froch would destroy him for starters and that's giving away 10/15 pounds.
Maybe Froch would destroy Woods and maybe he wouldn't, but I feel that Woods has proven a lot more than Froch and a lot of the other members of the top ten at this point, and with recent title victories against Hoye, Gonzalez, Delisle and Johnson I think he is on pretty decent form, although obviously he could do with being more active.
HairyBoxe24 wrote:I could go on for along time with that list tbh, well done for trying though.

Thank you for the input.

thanks for posting it Horse i always read it even if i dont have time to do my own. just two comments this month lol
1. IMO Calzaghe beating Lacy was better than Hattons career since Tyszu, P4P i think Calzaghe is better than Hatton (especially taking into account the stuggle with Colazzo whom Mosley dismantled)
2. At this rate will it be 16 months before Wayne MCullough is off the list?
If I had to place him in a Current fighters list (as you have done) i cant see anyone below him that DEFINITLY gets above him, but as far as im concerned he is inactive (probably as far as he is concerned as well, i know he is relicensed now but there has been no gossip of oppos since has there?)
i reckon wayne will get his bus pass before you let him go lol....
thanks again for the list mate

Fair cop regarding Eastman moving above Maccarinelli. I think we will agree to disagree over Froch. Ashira wasn't that big a deal (is it any better than Richard Williams) and I really cannot understand how it puts him above Froch. If Froch was below Eastman then keep Howard above him... but he wasn't.

Didn't you just admit to moving Froch down for beating Bobby Gunn?

ABA - why is Degale out of your list. Has he turned over? Think he's been well overated anyway.
Horse - out of curiosity, just wandering where you consider Duddy. Are you considering him "british" or is he not just on the list.
I'm not saying he's going to be a world champ or anything... but I do think he warrants a top 30 positioning.

Yes, but I see no reason to forget about Hatton's victory over Tszyu, as it was not that long ago. But, you are entitled to your opinion, and I can see your point. There is not a huge gap between them in my mind at the moment, and it could change fairly easily.

Here is a recent interview with Wayne, where he states his intention to continue.

Here is his website, if you are interested.

If he is remains inactive for a long time, then I may consider pulling him out, until he actually fights again. But I don't really want to do that, as you can possiby tell. :P

Hi Horse, it isnt a bad list, I can see some thought and work has gone into it - I may not agree with all the positions but this sort of thing is very subjective and just opinion after all - My top man would be Calzaghe and as for Ricky I think its too many pounds per pound in his case, great lad though and a very worthy champion - Not sure I would be willing to put a list on here as you have, just a private one to kick around with a few friends over a beer or two, we do that sort of thing for a laugh.

If you mean moving Maccarinelli down for beating Gunn, then I didn't move him down for losing, I moved Haye and Eastman above him for better wins.

No, I don't consider Duddy "British", so I don't include him on my list.
If I did consider him British, then he would be on the list somewhere.
