AMIR Khan has joined the designer elite - by investing in a must-have designer watch which has an incredible 3,000 diamonds.
The Bolton boxer, aged 20, has revealed that the timepiece set him back "£90,000 plus".
Amir, who sported his new watch for a celebration of the Spirit of Sport statue in Bolton on Sunday, says it is from American jeweller to the stars, Jacob & Co, and was custom-made to his exact requirements.
Jacob watches have adorned the wrists of some of the world's most famous showbiz names, including Madonna, Sir Elton John, David Beckham, "It" girl Paris Hilton and rap sensation P Diddy.
The brand has featured on the pages of glossy high-fashion magazines across the globe, making designer and founder, Jacob Arabo, the man to go to for celebrity jewels.
The New York-based jeweller grew up in Russia and moved to the USA at the age of 16 He enrolled on a jewellery course and in 1986 opened his business and began designing products under his brand, Jacob & Co.
advertisementIn the mid-to-late 1990s, many music industry icons were taken by Arabo's unique creations.
Personalities such as Whitney Houston and Mary J Blige recommended him to a host of their friends, spawning a buzz throughout the music industry.
Amir's new status symbol is his most expensive buy - apart from his Lostock home - and shades the £87,000 he paid for his other superstar accessory, a customised BMW M6 convertible.
London-based stylist, Ceril Campbell, has dressed stars for the red carpet and penned celebrity style secrets book, Discover the New You.
She said: "Amir's watch is very cool and on-trend. It's the status symbol of the moment.
"He's bought into a sorority of celebrity wearers.
"Jacob owners are not shy and retiring people and the watch really says something about them, their style and their success. And, of course, it's full of bling."

Emma,
I am sure all Amir's muslim friends, fans and relatives are really pleased that their hero has just shelled out £90,000 to a Jewish jeweller! Amir is breaking down religious and politcal barriers aswell as all his opponents. He is a very special young man.

What kind of role model is he exactly?
"Hey kids, play skittles like me and enjoy conspicuous consumerism!"

I have a solid gold Raymond Weil that cost me nearly 3K - I mean how can I wear that down at the pub at night and mine is pretty cheap compared with his - I dont want to be mugged on the way to my car - To be honest I hardly wear it - Diamond encrusted watches will draw even more attention so I cant see him being able to wear it much - I cant imagine owning a watch that cost more than my car - You wouldnt go anywhere wearing it unless you were surrounded by a dozen mates.

Personally, I find the 'look at me' diamond-encrusted vanity pieces quite vulgar. But if Khan wants to buy one, and he has the money, that's his choice.

He is welcome in South London ANYTIME!
He should be careful, where I live they will Kill you for a £1k Longines watch (like mine)
£90K is a lot of money for a car , let alone a watch.
Careful, Amir - but the money is yours to do what you want to.

Dont see what ethers religion or race has to do with it. I always find it strange the slightly sniffy attitude of (largely public school) newspaper writers to working class people having and spending money (from Garey Nevell to Amir Kahn).
Its a kind of pompus oxbridge educated attitude that dispite there sporting achivement bringing pleasure to millions they have gon about it "the wrong way" because they are not university educated. I would far rather Amir Kahn who has won an olympic medal and puts himself on the line (even against not the best opposition) for his money spent like a dick than some wanker who has done nothing for anyone and got borne luckey but you never see news articals critisising that.

Amir is a fake Muslim anyway, let's be honest. He plays up to it for the crowd.
But regarding the watch, so what? It doesn't make him a better person or fighter.

He can do what we wants, but they are vulgar. My missus took me to Harvey Nicks a few weeks ago and went off to the LadiesWear section. Rather than traipse after her, I went down to the watch section. I noticed there was a Jacob concession. She came down to find me wearing trying on a truly revolting, blinged up 80K watch and me saying to the shop assistant, "I like it, but can you do it with more diamonds".
Amazing what a bloke can do when he is bored.....

I feel sorry for the poor bloke who has to spend his days writing press releases about Amir buying watches. Who cares
