I'm confused.

Maybe its because I don't know the whole story but Amir is fighting Limond who has an ok record and he has less fights then Murray. Murray has more experience then him and is fighting Brethea. Yet Murray is saying that he is scared and not willing to face real competition. While I admit Khan's opponents have not been the most accomplished he has far from padded his record (okay there are a few Steffy Bull's) but with not even 20 fights he has done it far less then Murray. Why does he catch so much criticism.

Another point Silkov, Khan enjoys more or less joint top of the bill status on ITV - His huge ego wouldnt allow him to go to Vegas to fight bottom of the undercard

Undercard, smundercard. If he took up that fight there is a good chance both HBO and Sky would of picked it up with 2 unbeaten prospects, one being an olympian.
And if that was picked up for coverage, then with the hugeness of the fight in the main event, it would probably be the most watched fight of Khans career with all the countries it goes out to. Even if Khan goes onto being a genuine world level operator, he probably wouldn't reach anything approaching that kind of audience and exposure.

There is no way HBO would of picked it up unless it was on the undercard of a Calzaghe fight.
It's plainly obvious this fight is not gonna happen though, because neither one of those boxers are their own matchmakers. That's why it means nothing when you here most fighters calling each other out. To get a real idea of what's going on you have to here what the promoters are saying.

It's
incredible that any prospect would turn down such an occasion.
I'd fight Murray myself, just for the evening out!

Froch is supposed to have turned down fighting Calzaghe because the money offered was derisory - The trouble with fighters who have massive egos is they cant see fights like these as an investment for the future - Take a poor payday or fight well down the undercard and if you do win you can make sqillions out of beating big name opponents - Khan beating Murray would I think be more of a test than Willie Limond and do him loads of good and credibility - As you say the audience is massive and also American so that would put him on the world stage overnight.

Hmmm... I guess I see what your saying. So to add to this does PBF get more respect from you guys by dissing fighters he has beaten or is going to fight (as in ODLH)? I'm not sure if that is what you meant but I see what your saying. If Khan badmouthes a guy saying he can easily beat him and then doesn't take the fight on short notice after destroying easy competition and still being completely fine to fight he should move aside. Good point. Thanks.

Murray won in 7, O'Donnel lost in 1.

Heh, beat me to it. I was about to post it, though I thought O'Donnell got knocked out in the 2nd. Anyone seeing this guy doing anything good on world or the national level. Also why did it take Murray 7 rounds to dispose of a guy like Brethea. Does he have light hands?

Makes a laughing stock of all those stupid Hennessy Sports press releases. The only people who are going to see them is boxing fans and we all know O'Donnell isn't a future star. He's got some nice skills, but no power and without that it's hard to go anywhere in boxing.

Firstly: Maybe the Author/Mods want to put this thread down as a spoiler, just in case the fights are shown on SKy.
Hmm. Without seeing the fight, it's hard to say what happened with O'Donnell. Maybe he just got caught cold? However, whilst I'm surprised he's lost, I'm not entirely shocked. I know it sounds like I'm being wise after the event, but watching the Elwell fight, O'Donnell hardly looked like a superstar there.

My understanding is that Froch turned down the fight because Warren wasn't willing to do it without options on future fights. That is fair enough because I can see why someone wouldn't want constant rematches and fights with Warren fighters if they should win a fight.
Don't know if I have seen murry fight but a big thing about fighting there is a lot of industry people (IE HBO execs and boxing press etc) over in the states whould have got him on there radar having won by KO and with a tough record so in terms of carrer development thats good for him if he has got it.

good thing about Hennessey fighters is that they're willing to travel for experience. Remember Witter winning a WBC elim in America vs hard nut N'dou? Would Warren have any part of that kind of thing?
also, they appear willing to cooperate with Warren fighters but what can you do, Warren always wants the options.
