KHAN IN COURT OVER 140mph SPEEDING
A speeding case against boxer Amir Khan is due back in court on Tuesday.
Khan, 20, is accused of driving at 140mph in his BMW M6 convertible on the M62 motorway near Rochdale, last New Year's Eve.
He was due to appear before Rochdale Magistrates' Court last month, but the case was adjourned.
Khan has pleaded not guilty to the court via a letter from his solicitor.
It is not thought he will attend today's hearing.
Khan, of Lostock, near Bolton, is also charged with failing to produce a driving licence and failing to produce insurance.
The young boxer shot to fame when he won a silver medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
He has since turned professional and remains unbeaten in the paid ranks with a Commonwealth lightweight title challenge against Willie Limond scheduled for July.

The guys a spoilt twat I'm afraid, not the brightest spark either it seems... didnt running into a guy and breaking his leg already teach this twit a lesson...

Give the guy a chance, he's a young man of 19, who's made a mistake. I'm not condoning what he did, but everyone does stupid things when there young.
Khan isn't out pissing it up and getting into fights, he trains hard and looks after himself. he's been a good role model for kids.

Yes if you read my post you would see it said i don't condone what he's done in anyway.
And luckily by the sound of it none of you lot has ever driven fast in a car, and obviously you've never broken the speed limit. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to call for his car keys.

let's wait for the resolution of the case first.
but were he to be found guilty, i think it's fair comment to have a pop at amir with this being the second time he's got into trouble through driving.
yes, it's true that most of us have certainly have gone over the limit but i've never done more than 100mph. this kid was doing 140mph! it's a cliche but it's no thanks to him that no-one died. what he is accused of doing is incredibly stupid and dangerous.
especiailly with his previous warning, where he hurt that pedestrian.
especially with the example set by Naz.

140 miles an hour and this after hes already broken someones leg?Bit more than going 45 in a 40 zone isnt it?
Its an automatic ban anyway over 100.

Yes agree , i'm just saying not to be to hard on him.
He should get banned for this , and then he will have time to learn from his mistake.
recently there was a case where a guy got caught at 140mph , and was cleared because he was charged with dangerous driving , and he proved that although he was breaking the speed limit there was no proof that his driving was dangerous, as he was on a clear road and no other traffic was around.
I'm hoping that Khan does get a ban, but strange thing the law.

Inexperienced drivers shouldnt really be having 300+bhp cars anyway, regardless of who you are.
Its a recipe for disaster.....

Give him a chance??.... get away mate, he's already run someone over and broke their leg and now he's going around at 140 mph!!... a good role model!!?.... maybe by todays standereds as he hasnt been caught smoking crack or sniffing coke but I'd like a warning before he drives anywhere near me or my family cause the guys an accident waiting to happen!...

I know were not going to agree on this Silkov, but i'm not writing Khans chances of being a good role model on the fact he drove to fast.
I've lost family through traffic accident, so i do know what its like.
Khan seems sensible enough to learn from it.
Just hope he does.

im not being funny but that aint dangerous in a BMW M6 - those bastards are built for about 200mph
he is just a rookie who got caught
surely we have all done over 100mph on a busy motorway never mind a dead one???
on arguable the quietest nights traffic all year, i think it aint that bad
they should just give him an instant ban, no more no less

Well doesnt the fact that he's been caught doing 140 after running someone over show that he hasnt learnt his lesson??.... stick him in jail for 6 months and maybe then he might learn something!... he should at least lose his driving license... how many chances should he have??... its not just his fault though, I blame also the people around him who should be giving him better guidence... lately he's been both talking and driving like a class A prat...

He might be a good role model to some people, so know one better to throw the book at. Ban him, show the people that look up to him, that his success and money wont let you get away with everything.
If he gets a £100 fine whats the point to someone who pays £90000 on a watch!

allegedly or one of his other 'friends' should get a grip of him NOW. Yeh, he seems like a down to earth sort of guy but hes surrounded by people constantly telling him hes a future world champ. His ego must be getting bigger by the day. He may start to get the attitude of 'do you know who i am'. I hope not.
