Looking forward to seeing Linares step up and of course the mouth watering Guzman v Katsidis.

Other than those matches though and the schedule leaves me a little non plussed.

I'm looking forward to seeing Morrison in action again, I completly underestimated him last time out, he should be to good for Lynes, but will be worth watching whilst it lasts.

Skelton v Sprott might be a blast while it lasts, 50/50 one i think, even though Skelton dominated last time they fought, Sprott has improved since then.

Power v Booth, both boxers looking to get back on track in their careers, bit surprised that Booth is taking this one so soon.

I'm not too pleased with the 2:30 start time for Spinks vs Taylor.... Its a cracking undercard and I hope sky do it justice. Baldomir vs Forrest could be a good one.

Domestically its not that riveting, but decent "grass roots" stuff and I expect some good contests in which a case can be made for either guy winning - although, not to sure on Kevin Mitchell's opponent.

Power against Booth could be a decent scrap. I have a feeling it may get a bit testy.

As for Mitchell, he really, really needs a step up this year.

Plus on the Taylor v Spinks card you have another excellent middleweight fight between Edison Miranda v Kelly Pavlik, that one alone would be worth staying up for.

Very true - forgot about this class match up on the undercard.

It will really tell us if Pavlik has got it or not - a make or break for both guys..

You read my mind! But this must be a mistake - surely you can't have a superfeatherweight and a superbantam -come featherweight fighting for a lightweight title? Actually looking at what title it is its feasible but seriously thought Mitchell was doing okay at superfeather and I'd say he'd give Carl Johansson more of an argument than say Femi Fehtola - cant see him beating Johannson mind.

Pull a Bridesmaid and hope that the double vodka red bull's that you've needed for stimulation to do the business keep you awake to watch the boxing.

Sky are really going backwards. Why do they keep on showing retreads coming off losses like Power?

They are making the domestic scene uncompelling.

About the only fight I want to see is Pavlik putting Miranda away with a few jaw breakers. Even that fight may have lost its meaning (setting up the winne rv Taylor) with Calzaghe looking for Taylor.

Guzman-Katsidis is off :(

I strongly disagree, I think the SKY' domestic coverage has been excellent since a certain Mr FW left them. We have seen some outstanding fights over the last 12 months domestically lots of 50/50 fights.

I know a lot of people here preffered SKY under the Warren days but I would much rather watch 50/50 fights for real domestic titles than an endless stream of WBU missmatches.

well, I've had good things to say about Sky's coverage since early 2006 and we've had no end of competitive fights and standout performances by Haye, Froch, Munyai, Olusegin & Asiku. However the latter 3 seem to have gone off the radar.

What would promoters rather do? Try and sell out the Goresbrook Leisure Centre or groom more future world title stars? It's realy starting to piss me off, this, and NO WAY do I want to see Napa, Power, and others getting big fights when the guys a level above them get null. God, this is just rubbish. We'll see Lenny Daws before we see Olusegun. We'll see Power before we see Munyai.

Sky need to start getting their priorities right. They just lost Ricky. Start planning for the future by choosing the men who will have the talent, toughness and enthusiasm for the job.

It's not really down to sky though is it.

At the end of the day, promoters are going to try and engineer opportunities for big ticket sellers. Look at Hunter, he got his shot despite almost everyone saying he had virtually no shot at winning at all, which was proven by the result where he took a resounding thumping from Molitor.

The reason he got the shot is he put arses on seats, was exciting to watch, and thus the promoter could put him forward, sell a lot of tickets, and get TV coverage for a world title shot, and thus some nice TV money.

Sky cannot force the promoters to get shots for people, that's down to the promoters, and the truth is sanctioning bodies are going to want to give chances to fighters who sell tickets, because the santcioning fees are bigger. To some extent sadly, it's a popularity contest, and only rarely these days do we get the fighters with the most talent also being big ticket sellers, due to boxing not being in the mainstream.

sure but sky are risking having a paucity of world title talent - when in reality they have a small # of exceptional, overlooked prospects - and in truth where would the UK promoters be without TV dates?

they'd be trying to sell £5 PPVs that no one ever watches.

sky have been showing great fights but it's become so that they're getting less for their money. These next 2 or 3 months are dreck for Uk boxing. they have to be more rigorous re what fights are approved.
