PBF might box his way into an early lead but Duran would be too relentless and cute for him. I suspect after 8/9 rounds PBF would be strictly in survival mode. Duran by late stoppage or clear points win for me.

Being a Duran fan, I pick Duran. But the version of 1977-80, will stop PBF in later rounds, somewhere in the 12th or 13th.

Duran at his peak was the type of fighter that could find a way to hit anyone.. I don't think Mayweather would be able to stand up to his shots for long.. much like my fellow posters.. I think Mayweather would go into survival mode after the first 5 rounds. Not to say it wouldn't be competitive. Duran was also a mean counterpuncher. Much like Chavez (but unlike Chavez he also had a very underrated defense) he'd take a punch to land a stronger one. That is the type of fighter needed to beat Mayweather. Someone who can cut off the ring and force him to exchange. Duran in my opinion has all the attributes required to beat Mayweather.

Thanks. I think Oscar's biggest mistake was not doubling up on his jab. One to the body and one to the head. Sure he'd take a few punches in the process but i'm sure he'd find his mark a bit more often, or at least frustrate Mayweather enough to cut off the ring.. and he should have gone to the body. Duran on the other hand.. well he would cut off the ring masterfully, mix it up to the body and head beautifully, and often take one to give a stronger one. Not only that, but even if Mayweather would use his shoulder roll defensive technique, Duran would be landing bombs on those shoulders. I think that Duran's power is often underrated even though he did ultimately lose it as he went up in weight.. Mayweather was also a natural lightweight. Losing to a prime Duran though isn't something to be ashamed of.

Duran has Mayweathers number. Guy that beat Ken Buchanan was like a snarling animal.

Duran definately by wide decision. Floyd couldn't stand the pressure of Duran pressing forwards with his hands of stone. Wide Decision if Floyd could pick his ass up of the canvas and manage to stay up during the latter rounds...

If Duran is 'on' he wins on points.

I'm obviously in the tiny minority of people that don't even have Floyd as the pound for pound number 1 these days.
I just don't buy into this guy.

Put me down for Duran by stoppage.

Duran would find a way to win this if he was at the top of his game. He wouldn't look for the KO but if the opportunity came he wouldn't be shy. Close decision or possible stoppage. I'm not sure Floyd would have the heart to stay in there with a fighter of this ferocity.
