okay, I already posted this on the current scene, but am eager to see Brit responses as many of us were expecting to see Katsidis-Guzman on Sky before Joan pulled a sicknote.

Anyway...fightnews revealed that Arum had trouble putting together Pac-JMM 2 with Marquez demanding too much money and that Guzman is the front runner for a big 130-pound fight vs the Pac monster. Probably why he won't fight Katsidis...

Interesting choice and nice bit of handicapping with Guzman already abandoning 130 and having a career's worth of weight troubles...

Top Rank big boss Bob Arum, who is in General Santos City, Philippines, providing moral support to Manny Pacquiao, told a handful of Manila scribes that it will be very hard to strike a deal with Juan Manuel Marquez for the Filipino southpaw because "Marquez doesn't have a fanbase and is demanding more money." Arum, in an interview with The Manila Bulletin, The Philippine Daily Inquirer and The Philippines Star on Friday morning, revealed that New York-based Dominican Republic native Joan Guzman appears to be the frontrunner in the race to take on Pacquiao. Arum said he met with representatives of Guzman, officials from Sycuan Promotions, and discussed the possibility of a Pacquiao fight, just before he boarded a Philippine Airlines flight from Las Vegas to Manila. Also being eyed are Marco Antonio Barrera, if he no longer has contractual obligations with Golden Boy Promotions of Oscar De La Hoya, Humberto Soto and even Venezuelan kayo king Edwin Valero. "If it's Valero, it will be in Macau and if somebody else it will be in the US," said Arum, who is here for a four-day visit to support the political bid of Pacquiao for congressman in the first district of South Cotabato in the May 14 polls. "I am not allowed to speak here, but my presence speaks a lot," said Arum.

I think he may have pulled an injury, Katsidis was a risky fight with no real reward.
If Guzman won they would say Katsidis was inexperienced and not that good, If he loses it will be a huge step back and he will be losing out on a lot of top fights.

Forget Guzman Pac id rather see Katsidis Vs Pac at least there would be fireworks from start to finish. :TU: :TU:
