The Daily Telegraph reports that former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson will be the subject of a no-holds-barred documentary that focuses on his career, wild style and times.
The film will be called "Tyson," and directed by James Toback, who has known the former champ since 1985. Tyson is supporting the project and has submitted more than 30-hours of interviews to Toback.
Toback said the documentary is due to come out later in the year. It will present an honest account of Tyson's life and would not sugarcoat his more famous incidents, like his rape conviction or biting off Evander Holyfield's ear.
“The point is not to polish his image or make a cinematic apology, but rather to get a first-hand look at a very complex and epic story,” Toback said. “He was honest about all the things that have highlighted his life, from the bitter divorce, the ear-biting, prison, to his becoming a sex addict. He is self-aware, smart and a totally fractured personality, and he made himself completely vulnerable.”
As the director, James Toback, has known Tyson since 1985, I think it could make for a promising accont of Mike's life, problems etc.
There have been so many things made about Tyson, I hope this one is different in some ways.
What can we expect from this?

Idk. I'm a movie fan although not a Toback fan I gotta admit, but he might make a entertaining doc on Tyson. I read something about he took the most hits of LSD ever witnessed or something crazy like that. Maybe that makes him the guy that can finally get the Tyson story correct, maybe not. Tyson was also in one of Toback movies already, Black & White.

Personally I'd love to see a biopic about Tyson in a few years, I wonder who'd play him though... I think Ving Rhames could do the older version, but the young version would be an interestng cast

I'm with the crowd that is saying "What else is there to be said?", I hate to say that even though I am a huge Tyson fan. There is only so many "Kid Dynamite" videos you can watch on ESPN Classic, only so much interviews and of course news paper stories of him getting into trouble (again) before it actually gets old.
A more intriguing story would be Tyson's career in the last 5 or so years, and go from there and how he descended into boxing oblivion, ended up like so many former champions (Joe Louis & Sonny Liston mainly) becoming a freak show for the Las Vegas casinos and then gets talked into making a 'comeback exhibition tour' because he's in such huge debt, talk about his drug use escelating out of control and then...how he fucked up the world tour because of some blow and how he's facing 7 1/2 years in jail...and then do a play by play of the trial.
Then talk about he went from boxing's biggest draw for a decade and a half and just how tragic it is that he is behind bars yet again...oh and throw in how he was in rehab with Lindsey Lohan

Toback has made his career off Tyson cameos. Every time you've seen Mike on the silver screen, it's been in a Toback movie. Mike's story doesn't need to be told anymore.
IMO,
