We often hear fighters say how much stronger they feel when they go up in weight but can anybody think of a fighter who was not considered a puncher at the lower weight, come up and look to be punching with much more venom? Spinks seems to be gaining the weight for this weekend very well but is there a chance Taylor will be bothered at all by the punches coming his way? I'm expecting Spinks to start well but can't see how he can maintain it for 12 rounds and keep Taylor off him.

I can see Spinks box and move tactics giving Taylor a few problems early in the fight but once he wears down a bit i imagine the big fella will start to take over. It's not the most ideal fight going in against a man moving up in weight, but at least fighting a world class fighter from a lower weight is more acceptable than facing a nobody from a weight below

I'm not excited about Taylor fighting a feather fisted former welterweight.

looking froward to the Miranda-Pavlik undercard fight, though, and Taylor vs the winner.

The only one I can think of is when Floyd moved up to 140 lbs. As a Lightweight people said he lost his power.

I think this fight is quite interesting. Taylor looked pretty ordinary last time out and I think the longer he is as a Middle the more he is going to struggle. Spinks though has been known to fade in the later rounds (Mayorga, Judah 1 and 2, Karmazin).

Taylor struggled against Ouma because Ouma was pressing forward, and Taylor was gassed due to weight making.

Spinks doesn't have that style, which will allow Taylor to potshot and press forward and win rounds for aggression, even though he probably won't land much.

I agree entirely though that at MW, Taylor is an accident waiting to happen, that's why I think the Calzaghe fight has a good chance of happening.
