taylor vs pavlik - styles make fights

after watching the 2 fights on sky at the weekend i think that pavlik really has what it takes to beat taylor and be the new middleweight star.

there is 1 reason why i think he will win....workrate...taylor has none and likes to coast whilst pavlik can go from start to finish and has a big punch.

pavliks chin also looked very good.

yes taylor is slick but i just cant see how taylor will be able to keep pavlik off him....he is like eubank who liked to fight at his own pace. thats why i see a repeat of the first eubank vs collins fight but with maybe a ko for the challenger

any thoughts???

I'll have to agree with that, and hope it happens, too. Pavlik will be a breath of fresh air for the division and the sport if he can pick up the belt.

Taylor is slick?

Ive never seen him look remotely slick.

Pavlik flattens him & ends this nonsense.

I'd still back Taylor to beat Pavlik. Pavlik looked good against Miranda, but Taylor is a better boxer than Miranda and faster. Pavlik has some decent power, but he's very slow and I think Taylor would do enough to win a decision. I wouldn't be surprised if it went the other way though, because of Taylor's recent performances.

It's very worrying how bad Taylor has looked recently. His technique has never been great, but it's seems to be getting worse, not better. Remember how much everyone would talk about his jab when he was coming up. People couldn't stop going about it. It doesn't seem to be nearly as good anymore and Taylor can't set anything up without it.

Get Taylor out of the way and Middleweight could become FOTY central.

Just imagine with all the defense artists run out of the division, you'll be left with any combination of Pavlik/Abraham/Miranda/Karmazin/Ouma/Sturm/Duddy

Pick any 2 names out of that list and you've got a potential fight of the year in my opinion.

No i dont remember.

I do remember he fought no one of any quality until 2005 when he outpointed a shopworn William Joppy. Dont think hes scored so much as a KD since.

Pav's aggressive style gives Taylor more offensive opportunities. But can Taylor take the punishment?

For the sake of being nice to Taylor, put him in with a conventional style. Because so many believe Pav would crush him, Taylor may have found his great rival -or the man to 'find him out'. If his fight with Pavlik is great, there could be rematches for bigger money etc

If it's any help, I recall Lamps saying "Like some of the greatest fighters of all time, Taylor can hook off the jab..." LOL
