Reading through the Mirror yesterday and read an interesting piece, cut it out and it is regaring Audley Harrison...

He has been offered fights on Sport Network undercards, with it's owner stating that Harrison has been made an offered a a fair chance to get back in...

Amazingly, Harrison turned it down is quoted as saying...

"I'm ready, willing and able to step back in at Championship level"

I don't see how he is going to get any sort of title shot after such a devastating loss..

He needs to earn another shot in my opinion - he won't be winning a World Title hoping that is for sure!

Well he did win the WBF championship so maybe he is working towards a crack at Albert Sosnowski. Imagine that a two time world champion. He may need a few tune ups though.

Sorry mate doormen have to have guts to do their job and Audley is frightened shitless of a fist in a boxing glove never mind bareknuckle fights - The man is a total joke, he wasnt even the toughest lad in Harlesden (where he comes from) never mind anywhere else (like the world ha fuffin ha)

What a joke, where abouts did he ever fight at Championship level then? He's really mixed with the cream of the crop with Robert Davis and Dominick Guinn. He should face facts that he isn't hard enough to win a tickling contest and focus on a new career path, something like flower arranging would be more his thing

I agree he needs a couple of warm-up fights because coming off a KO loss, he needs to earn a title shot of whatever description. I don't know why he's saying he's reluctant to do so, especially considering he was happy to fight Greeley off TV in front of 300 people.

But I guess some kind of announcement may be imminenet. There was a piece about him in the Metro last week, too. Suggests he's beginning to peek his head back into the frame.

Can you imagine if he won 4/5 on the bounce (too late now) and ended up in with someone like Sam Peter or Klitschko....he hasn't got the stones, sadly...

Audley needs to decide how committed he is to boxing. If he wants to come back and make a fist of his career, he needs to show both total commitment and total humility.

If he decides he can meet both of those pre-requisites, he should find no problem in following the road many others have travelled after seemingly career ending defeats -- getting on the road, no longer fighting as the 'house boxer', fighting on undercards, and fighting once a month or once every six weeks.

I don't care whether it's in Europe or the US, but he needs to get out of the spotlight, harden himself and aim for 100 rounds of boxing in the next year or so. At first, it can be against bums in tank-towns in the US, but he can steadily increase the talent level of his opposition by fighting tough journeymen in the early part of next year. Only then should he try to take on some decent European sorts, domestic challengers and then some divisional gate-keepers.

It’s the only way to rebuild his reputation and prepare him for even the smallest challenge, I’m afraid.

Michael Sprott has resurrected his career by allowing himself to be brought in as an opponent in Germany, and even Hasim Rahman went into the small halls after a disappointing run of results against Holyfield, Ruiz and Tua.

But Audley, predictably, still wants the fast and easy route to the top. Until he changes this attitude, his career prospects won't change, either.

In fact, now I've written this, I really don't know why I did. Because it ain't happening.

If he's serious about returning, he needs to apply a heavy duty smoker to the bee that's in his bonnet about being the constant headliner.

We all know he has the ability (even if the gold medal was perhaps rather flattering.) The second Williams fight was an improvement, and the punch that Sprott produced would have floored a significant number. My take anyway.

However, he does need to retire his mouth and give hard work a shot. If he's going to be fighting in Briatin, then it has to be graft. Fight the likes of McDermott, Kenna or Gammer (who personally I think doesn't fancy it) in July. Then it goes without saying it would likely be Williams for the British title (yes, about as appetising as a turd in a sandwich, but from Audrey's point of view the Lonsdale is a necessary step for the reputation) or the Sprott/Skelton winner (or even loser) as everyone but Frank (in fact even Frank) knows that the winner of that is not going to get a world title shot.

Two wins there would probably get him ranked. A fight in America against Chambers or Holmes would probably get him enough credibility for someone to hand him a title shot. If they could get a fight with Holyfield, it's happy days.

He definately needs to tighten his defence up from his last outing and he has to let them hands go, punches in bunches, especially in the early rounds.

I've heard Audley talk about the Sprott fight and he said he deliberately kept his defence loose to try and lure Sprott onto one, thats a piss poor tactic IMO, Sprotts defence was tight he took alot on the gloves and I reckon thats what made Audley careless.

I don't see the point in having a succession of warm up bouts against journeyman, 1 IMO 2 max, then back in at British or Euro level and see what happens. I'd like to see him back in the ring asap though, its been pretty much silence on the Audley front for a while .

i think he shuld fight paul king over 6 then colin kenna area title defend against john mc dermott then fight gammer in a british title eliminator then a rematch with danny williams other than that he should get out the game before he gets propper hurt

I was hoping the Sprott loss would knock him humility into him.
