He was the youngest of the Collins brothers. not as good as George or Tony.

Wasn't Benny Collins the youngest of the Collins clan? He only had six fights, losing one. By what I've read, Benny was thought of as, potentially, the best of them. None of them, sadly, fulfilled their promise.

Wasn't it one of the Collins brothers that allegedly said was the biggest waste of talent he'd seen?

I'd imagine that was Tony, he was long talked about for great things but just seemed to regress extremely quickly.
I was there for George's last fight against Kirkland Laing, really don't know what happened with George, it's not as if his defeats to Jacobs and Laing were career enders.
Can anybody shed any light on why the Collins brothers didn't achieve what they were obviously capable of?

I remember seeing Tony Collins on Midweek Sports Special get some very lucky decision against an Argentine fighter, Nunez??

The Jacobs defeat was close, but George was detroyed by Laing, so i think the last defeat convinced him he wasn't going to have the impact at a high level in boxing.
Also i heard a rumour that Laing was missing on the day of the Collins fight, he turned up at the venue with a few minutes to spare before the fight was due to start, and when Mickey Duff asked him where he'd been, laing said ' Me dog run off, luckly i found it in the end".
