Two bombers. One got to go. And the winner by KO is....

ZALE
much more durable, overall better Era & comp (best for MWs), better boxer, far, far better chin...Benn gets lucky maybe once in a long fight series.

Zale was just a vastly superior fighter in every way.

Zale was more durable and looked stronger at Middleweight. I would as ever cheer load for Benn to win but The Man Of Steel wins this one late in the type of brusing encounter that leaves it's mark on both fighters.

The peak Benn would never quit; he got marmalised by Watson and Eubank and was still on his feet when the ref stopped the fight. He got marmalised by McClellan, but managed to win.
He quit against Collins when his heart wasnt in the game.
Nigel Benn was a true warrior with balls of steel.

I agree that Benn would never quit, but Zale would be far superior. For 6-8 rounds it would be all out but Zale would start to edge it and maybe KO Benn in the 10th or 11th. Can't see it going the distance.

Dec, you vastly underestimate Benn. Nothing to do with your anti-European bias is it?

If Benn landed, Zale would probably be gone
He'd have to have a ridiculous chin (it was never tested by a BENN)
Let's not forget just what a hideous puncher Nigel was ;)

Benn would take out Zale. I can't believe how overrated that bum is.

Zale was no bum.

I've watched just about every fight of Zale I could get my hands on including Cerdan, Graziano x2, Soose, and Conn. He was tough, he had heavy hands, but I'd wager that any decent guy from the modern era like Winky Wright or even Kassim Ouma would batter Zale to the canvas or win a wide decision.
His biggest wins were against an old Graziano and he still managed to get battered. 8)

Same old bullshit. When anyone says anything negative about a European fighter, he's anti-European? I'm just anti-Benn. He was an exciting fighter to watch - and I was a fan - but against Tony Zale, he gets a
ss-raped. The whole premise behind this topic is beyond stupid.
Yes, same old anti-European redneck bullshit from you Dec. The peak Benn would have been a tough proposition for almost any middleweight, including Zale. His early defeats came because he blew himself up, and got caught out. After the Eubank loss, Benn learned to pace himself and became a far more effective fighter. It wasnt the move up to SM that saw the improvement either, Benn could have made 160lbs at any point of his career
