When you ask a fighter how is training going, he will tell you "fantastic, best shape of my life" then if he loses a fight he will come back to the gym and blame everyone but himself for the defeat.

Should a fighter be at the disposal of his trainer? in other words should he do as he is told? Or should the fighter dictate what, where and when his training will be done

I know the answers to some will be obvious but what do you think a trainer and fighter relationship should be like?

Any examples of it going right and also wrong?

The fighter can't be the boss in the gym, he needs to be at his trainers mercy.

It is not possible to push yourself to the necessary extremes otherwise

Or stop him doing too much

Wild, certainly not the end of the thread although I do acknowledge it is completely the correct answer.

I say not the end of the thread, because how many fighters have failed to achieve what they are capable of because they thought they knew best?

With my lot it was always stopping them doing to much.

Exactly, fighters thinking they know better than their trainers and not achieving their full potential does happen - Thats why the trainer has to be the boss and have their full respect.
