Macarinelli vs Cunnigham/Braithwaite?

Just read on teletxt that allegedly allegedly is in negotiations with Don King about a possible opponent for Enzo on July 21st. If not, Warren hopes to secure Wayne Braithwaite as an opponent.

Whoever it is, it'll be a step up for Macarinelli, that's for sure.

Warren is having a Shakespearean fall from grace, now that he appears to be comparatively homeless (re TV). He's doing strange things like putting in bids whose size is out of proportion to the fight (Froch-Adamu 2), allegedly trying to win Haye-Mormeck with King's help, and now finding a good opponent for one of his WBO champions. Is the plan to get a nice contract, abuse it, then take worries off his back for another 2-3 yrs before it starts all over again?

Yep, amazing how these fights are now being mentioned just as Warren's contract with ITV is under threat. Not that I'm cynical or anything.

As for Enzo's next fight being a step up, hell I'd be a step up from his last one, and I last fought amateur over 17 years ago (actually, that's just made me feel really old)!!

when someone does things out of character they are usually under extreme stress. is warren paying for what he did to uk boxing with tension headaches? LOL

So if Enzo beats Cunningham he will be IBF AND WBO champ? that win would settle his credibilty issues lol, and Haye would have to chase him for the fight...

Far be it for me to put a dampner on things, but we were told it was going to be one of two world class fighters last time for Enzo. Look at what we got instead.

However, at least there are actual names being mentioned here. It won't be Cunningham though. He only fought just over a week ago, so I don't see him being ready to fight again, away from home, in July. Plus, Huck just won an eliminator for his belt.

Still, Braithwaite would be a massive improvement on Bobby fornicating Gunn.

braithwaite's a dangerman.

i think i'd make both cunningham & braithwaite favourite. :box:

I think both fighters would proberbly beat Macranelli because he just ain't that good. However major kudos if the fight happens it would be good for warren to seporate his weat from his chaff.

Is that thing about Warren putting up a bid for Haye true, if so that could be interesting because he may persuade Haye (if he wins) to hang around for a fight vs Mac which I would enjoy :-)

OLD, I dont think so - I am a great grandfather but I try to live and think young - I dont mind being a great grandfather that isnt the problem, its knowing I have a daughter who is a grandmother that is - So having disagreed with you on the age thing LOL, as far as the boxing comments you made, I have to agree with you on that.

Enzo will lose to these 2. Braithwaite can punch Enzo looked very wobbily against Hobson first time. But its a good match up.

These guys at CW can hit hard, lets face it they are just a few pounds off being HWs - Hobson can bang hard so its not surprising Enzo got wobbled - Some can take a punch better than others, but lose concentration and the big bomb can be lights out for any of the big names no matter who they are - Enzo has huge punching power and could KO anyone so you cannot write him off - He has great concentration and picks his punches well - I would give him a good chance with anyone at CW including David Haye.

Will be a huge test for Enzo, whichever he gets. Probably get a pasting then a pull a huge punch from somewhere, that's the only real shot I give him....

There is no way that FW will risk Macca at the moment, he can't afford to lose one of his 'World' champs.
Esp with TV deals in the balance

Yet more spin from FW, treating punters with distain. How on earth is Cunningham going to fight so soon after winning the title in Poland? It's very, very unlikely, Warren knows it, yet still tries to fool people into thinking he's a likely opponent. It's funny that FW and Enzo mention 6 other CW's yet no mention of Haye.

I've nowt against Enzo who's an exciting fighter. My bet is Braithwaite is announced then pulls out a week before the fight and Stacey Goodnight waddles in as replacement.

Cunningham's a tall slick fighter but not a puncher. The only guy he stopped recently was Lloyd Bryan. A guy who Ottke battered.

It's a lot of hot air on the part of SN in my opinion - Quite likely due to TV deals expiring etc.

One thing though, I did smile at this quote from Enzo:

"It never bothers me who I fight. I never question the opponents Frank picks"

Maybe you should Enzo.

Braithwaite would batter Enzo into next week. I hope this fight comes off because the dopey bookies would probably make Enzo favourite.

Braithwaite is too small - really little more than a light heavy with a big punch. With his lack of activity and lack of size, Enzo would do Braithwaite like Huck did Tokarev.

Enzo would be suited to get Cunningham or Braithwaite because you could also accuse Cunningham of being little more than an elongated 175-pounder with big muscles.

Well maybe he'll have a chance against Braithwaite due to Inactivity.

Didn't Cunningham let himself down In the 1st fight against the Pole?

The IBF is strip-happyland. No way they of all the major bodies would allow Cunningham to make a voluntary defense, which could postpone Huck´s mandatory shot.

Isn't It In the IBF rules that the champ Is allowed a voluntry defence after only just winning the belt?

that would be an understatement. Cunningham was awful.

That's cobblers. Cunningham won the first fight against a very credible champion in an extremely volatile hometown venue, after a year of cancelled big-time fights. He didnt get the decision.

Luckily there was a technicality and DK sorted a rematch, again in a volatile Poland. This time USS flew out of the gate and closed the fight out by halfway.

Cunningham would box Enzos head off. A decision bet the best bet you'll ever see.

He'd love to fight him too. However, he's hoping to get the BIG fight, i.e the unification bout with the other DK champ, Mormeck.

Braithwaite has had one fight in two years, a laboured win over a bum. Prior to that, Braithwaite was sparked out by Jones, who was beat by Cunningham and who ouldnt face him again.

Cunningham looked like a right handed Tarver in that 1st Wlod fight. He was slick without aim. Inaccurate with shots. Cunningham had the talent but it was way closer than it should've been. Could have gone either way by a point. It was so bad it should've been a draw.

Maybe Cunningham was the business in the rematch. He might be 6'3 but like ppl have been saying, he has nil power and isn't physically strong. It's possible he could outclass Enzo but right now Cunningham is the weak champion to gun for. (I don't consider Enzo champion of anything). Until Steve proves otherwise.

I think SC had some fans off the back of the Guillermo Jones and Sebastian Rothmann fights but lost a few after Wlod 1.

Don't think ANY of us has seen Steve-Wlod 2 yet so let's all calm down.
