search wrote:boxing is a joke these days. its difficult to get to see any big fights. Nowadays i only tune in and watch the big fights. the last fight i watched was pbf - mayweather and I'll tune in to hatton castillo as well. il tune into khan against limond and if calzaghe fights kessler il watch that. Harris vs Witter is also one il watch. I used to watch boxing all the time but I've got sick it at this stage and i have no interest in watching boring fights or mismatched fights or journeymen fights. boxing is dying a slow death and the best don't fight the best. if they do, it's hard to get to see it. fu*k boxing lads. lets all tune into the ufc or pride where we see real fights and not mismatches.
so don't watch allegedly shows. that's the easiest antidote. plenty gong on elsewhere.

Big fights are overrated anyway. Look how shite Mayweather/DLH was. Give me a cracking IBO intercontinental junior mysteryweight slugfest (not to be confused with a slugout) any day of the week.

Real quality top fights are few and far between, but at least there are a few each year.

The real problem is the quality of small hall fights in the UK, most of em are crap. Apart from Warren and Maloney, most of the promoters are shite, there are fewer kids coming ito the sport thean ever before.

For the first time in my life I was faced with deciding whether or not to buy boxing news on Friday. I decided not to and bought the investors chronicle instead.

These days the stock market offers more excitment than boxing.

My interest is at an all time low.

I don't know many people who think "fornicate boxing, let's watch UFC" then post on a boxing forum?

See you then mate, take care :TU:

i used to follow fighters, but now i follow fights.

cotto v judah was a great fight but hopkins v wright is guaranteed to be shite.

i missed all of calzaghe's fights post-lacy because they were wank. didnt bothered watching hatton's last fight but will see him v castillo. if he goes back to fighting bums after that then i wont watch. not enough time to waste it watching crap.

Despite all the problems with boxing I fail to understand why people think UFC is an antidote??... two steriod enhanced baldies hugging eachother for 5 mins or until one of them lands a little punch or twists an arm and its all over???.... I dont get it personally??... I've seen better fights between 6 year olds in a school yard!... UFC is just the Ultimate joke imo....

as opposed to two skinny black geezers hitting each other with big red pillows strapped to their hands

there is no need to be EITHER a boxing fan or a MMA fan, just enjoy the best of both........

I'd rather watch the skinny fellas (who would ko most MMA fighters with a jab!) ...anyday!. These 'ultimate' fighters usually cant take a half decent punch, let alone throw one... the knockouts I've seen in fights are often laughable... most wouldnt last a round with even a journeyman boxer. Reason I'm comparing the two sports like this is because some people go on about UFC or MMA taking over from boxing!... its like saying banger racing is going to take over from Formula One!... :TU: 8) :box: :box: :box:

Watched it for about an our and a half yesterday. Some entertaining fights, but dissapointed with the skills levels. Hard bastards no doubt, but I couldn't see someone with the Skills of Kostya Tszyu struggling at all. Someone like Hatton probably would, but a fighter who is equally as comfortable on the back foot would have a field day.

There was one middleweight title fight in which I would say about 90% was pretty much boxing and the guys didn't throw a punch properly. The Kicks were telegraphed (not saying their technique was bad, but in general its much harder to disguise a kick). Take downs would be an obvious issue, but these Middles were only taking down when the one guy was hurt.

Seeing as the headline fights are for million $ purses, looks like a lot of boxing journeyman are going to be able to cache in.
You're making the mistake of directly comparing to seperate disciplines.
