So it is Enzo vs Braithwaite

Pretty much signed and sealed for the 21st July.

What do we make of that then :)

Not bad, but it's name value over actual substance as it stands. Braithwaite getting smashed by Guillermo Jones looks bad and he hasn't beaten a top 10 guy since.

A definate step up (like there could be a step down after Gunn  ), but how much Braithwaite has left is very open to speculation. Especially considering he's had so few rounds in the last two years. If we get the Braithwaite of three or four years ago then Enzo's in for a tough time, but my feeling is that Warren knows that version of Braithwaite has long gone.

Top fight, if it happens... I'm looking forward to this one as much as Haye vs Enzo at this stage - cause at least Braithwaite has some wins in world class.

Nice fight and one to look forward to.
Enzo will be a slight favorite you'd think, but at least Braithwaite has the firepower to make things interesting.

Yes, recent results look like he's on the downside, no doubt about it.
But Warren is doing his job well in making a fight like this: a respectable name who quite a few will give a good chance of the upset, but FW has made the fight at the right time from Enzo's view point.

oddly, Braithwaite hasn't beaten that many good, top 10 fighters. If any, in fact. I think his reputation was mostly on his punch and his former WBC title.

a move in the right direction though. wayne was close to beating jones - whose leg gave out before scoring a desperation KO - and felt he was stopped too early...oops, and he's coming to the UK!

Braithwaite was definately not out and stopped too early...

Braithwaite is Enzo's worst nightmare. Guy who can punch and won't take a backwards step.

the guy is crude but will still land on enzo and his bad defence.

I'd like to shout my pick loud and clear-

BRAITHWAITE KO 7

By the way Guillermo Jones was the sort of badass needed to beat Big Truck- tough sob who gets in the trenches and can get out too. Also see Mormeck. Enzo does not fit this description

it's a hard one to decide. he wasn't throwing back. he was taking shots but slipping others. certainly was in big trouble. jones almost certainly couldn't go on - he had leg cramps and collapsed on his back after TKO'ing Braithwaite.

looks like he's coming to the right place, ha

Enzo may surprise you yet. His management has been shocking, so has his luck (Johnny Nelson pulling out TWICE) and his free run with the WBO. His name has bene tarnished. But I feel he has learned in fights with Hobson and Dominguez. I feel Macca will be fine tuned for this fight and that he'll be far too big for 'Big Truck'. Braithwaite will go orthodox, southpaw, wang in hooks, but he'll get battered.

Finally, Enzo can get to win over the fans that surely dropped off after his 1st Hobson war.

That's a bit unfair about Enzo. One thing I'm pretty sure of, there is no lack of guts when it comes to digging deep.

This should be an excellent slugfest. Good to see Maccarinelli stepping up at last.

Should be a slugfest for as long as it lasts. Even if he is past his best at least he is a reasonable test and better than some of the shite that has been served up for him.

I've only ever seen Braithwaite losing to Mormeck. I can't remember it too well but i remember it was competitive for the most part.

Someone who was competitive in world class not much more than 2 years ago is a big step up for Maccarenelli so i'm all for it.

Poor old Frankie, the nasty tv stations are forcing him to put all his fighters in genuine fights. If this sort of treatment carries on he could well end up reinvigorating British boxing. Years of work undone...

Solid fight if it happens.

I'd like to see the winner in with Tomasz Adamek, he's fought on English shores if I'm not mistaken (and yes I realize there's a good chance of seeing Adamek KOed there).

Step up for Enzo, in fact there's a chasm between whichever Braithwaite turns up and the woeful Gunn....

Enzo by TKO around the ninth........when he's blowing

Axe, you beat me to it. Adamek-Macca has fight of the year written all over it...Also, it's a fight that can happen.

I think King HAS to send his fighters - especially crusierweights - abroad. Either for fights back home or getting sent to take a home fighter's title. Don has done great things for cruiserweight but like we all know he let his boys fall into inactive obscurity.

I really want to see Adamek bounce back. I don't think he'll ever encounter Dawson-like problems as long as he boxes. My guess is in 10 years time Chad will be a long reigning world champion and Tomasz will be able to say he nailed him in the late stages. His rugged warrior spirit should fit him right in at cruiserweight. The war he had on HBO will ensure he gets more oportunities.

So, did Adamek look good last weekend?

It's a good fight, no complaints here. Braithwaite may have lost a couple of important fights and he's always been inactive, but he's a good fighter. The Mormeck fight was tooth and nail until Braithwaite got worn down in the later rounds. Braithwaite was probably still feeling the effects of that loss against Jones as well and Jones is a good fighter. Jones has beaten Kelvin Davis besides Braithwaite, got robbed against Johnny Nelson and lost a split decision to Steve Cunningham. That's not bad going.

All in all this will be a very good test for Enzo. There are only 4 or 5 cruiserweights in the world who can be ranked above Braithwaite, even with his two recent losses.
