Chauncy could probably KHTFO! I would not pay to see this bloke fight, what a joke! How about we concentrate on bringing our young boxers up rather than converting other athletes!?!

He was a pretty highly rated amatuer. I would prefer to see him boxing over the likes of Hoppa or Les Mason.

I was surprised to read this as I know a bloke who's a good mate of Barry's and he has told me on more than one occasion that he wasn't at all keen on a career in the ring. He's making a good living playing footy with the Swans and doesn't want to end up punchy later on in life.
Having said that, if he did get involved I'd be a keen observer. I've shared a game of pool with Barry before and despite being a big guy (6'4 with a large build) he made me feel tiny. He's noticeably taller than I am (probably 6'5 and a half), built like a tank and has very long arms. I reckon if his amateur pedigree is as good as advertised he'd be formidable at Australian level and a decent chance at snatching a lower level world title.

A few points.....
- Hyder is an idiot. "He's the big, bloody white hope. It's not racism when you talk about it . . . the world's been dominated by black Americans for years". Has Angelo been paying attention to the heavyweights recently?
- Hall would get smashed. EASILY. He was a junior amateur champ.... so what?!? He's got a chance of winning a minor world title? No way in hell! Does anyone realise how many former amateur champs there are floating around on boxing that can't even crack the world top 200? Rafael Butler, former US amateur HW champ, gets KO'd everytime he faces someone with a punch. Olympian James Swan, retired at what, 4 - 6? If Hell was to fight he's be exactly like Hopoate.
- Pro boxing ain't that easy people. Anthony Mundine, as far as I'm aware, is the only fighter in history thats gone from the top of one sport to the top of boxing. Hall will 100% certainly not be the second.

being the best Australian heavyweight is like being the best center half forward in Uzbekistan

hahaha sad but very true grant.. however with colin wilsons workrate and the fact that mirovic is in limbo means that barry hall could probably be aussie champ with some hard work.. and as far as guys like hoppa go even though hes got the boxing skills of my little cousin and gas's out after 2 rounds they put bums on seats because their controversial.. Just about every footy fan in nsw loves bustlin barry and even if hes never going to be a world beater people will PAY to watch him fight and it will bring aussie boxing into the mainstream once again through the media etc, im all for it

I could see Big bad Barry making a splash locally but on the international stage he'd be quickly left in a heap. The guy's 31 and despite the boxing background (how many years ago was that???) he'll never make up for the years not boxing
I reckon there's a few guys playing AFL that would give Barry all he could handle in a boxing ring
