If you know of any decent boxing biographies please let me know.
I've got Joe Egan's (rubbish) and Johnn Tapia's (superb) and a friend is lending me Paul Brigg's and Duran's.

Just read the Duran one and it's superb. Ali-His Life And Times also great. Larry Holmes' is the best boxing autobiography I've ever read.

The author conducted a load of interviews with Duran, and lots with his opponents and associates too, can't imagine that there will ever be a better book on the great man.

***** - Must Read
**** - Excellent Read
*** - Very Good
** - Good
* Rent from Library if you have nothing else to read
Muhammed Ali - His Life and Times (*****)
Rocky Marciano - The Rock of His Times (*****)
Frank Bruno - Fighting Back (****)
Raging Bull - Jake LaMotta (****)
Pound for Pound - A Biography of Sugar Ray Robinson (****)
Night Train - A Biography of Sonny Liston (***)
By George - The Autobiography of George Foreman (**)
Smokin' Joe - Joe Frazier (****)
Joe Louis - The Great Black Hope (****)
and I've got some more somewhere but can't remember what they are off the top of my head.
I find autobiographies so addictive, escpecially boxing of course. Anybody else find that? The more I read, the more I want to read.
But there are loads I still haven't got to, and loads I wish was written and I think it's a damn shame we can't share their stories.

That's the propaganda book that says Jim Jeffries retired to avoid fighting
Sam Langford, who weighed 156 pounds a year after Jeffries retired when Langford fought Jack Johnson.
That's the incompetent "documentary" whose halfwit authors have their fictional Jack Johnson "narrate" the entire thing in a southern voice that Jack Johnson never used.
The"documentary" authors are so incompetent that they don't know that there are many recordings of Johnson's voice--and that he had a New England "educated" accent.
It is pathetic to see the clueless swallow such crap.

Instead of pointing out all the crap...could you once....just once point us in the direction of a book on boxing that is GOOD? Did you like Duran's biography? If not what are the 3 best books on boxing?. .....Please don't be sarcastic I want to know who you think has put some good boxing information out in book form. I swear I will go and read it with an open mind. If you reccomend a book on Ali or Leanard I'm going to let loose with a hard core fundamentaly perfect and precision timed right cross from hell right through your computer screen.

Buzz,
Your thread titled granberry didn't work, did it?
I see the OTHER moderators erased it after your boy knicklez declared his homosexuality.
It's too late to learn anything for you, buzz.
Stick to Thomas Hauser and Bert Sugar.
