I'm not getting very excited about Hatton-Castillo

I think this is because it's tucked away on Setanta.
As a consequence Sky clearly aren't giving it any build up which normally piques my interest if it was lacking...
I didn't think it was possible for boxing to be anymore tucked away than being on Sky but we got used to that and now it becomes even further removed from the public eye.
Big shame....

Setanta have some free hatton castillo shows airing in the evenings. Give them a watch, got my interest in the fight going again.

Although just noticed Phenomenal-Nutritions thread about the build up being available to non Sentanta subscribers so I'll give that a wee looky.

Yeah give it a watch tonight Goz and you'll soon be getting in the big fight mood. Hatton looks in great condition, I'm sure we'll see the same from Castillo tonight.

i agree that it's a shame about the setanta thing.
we could do with some top class boxing on terrestrial tv.
who cares if they ain't paying top dollar for it.
hatton's got enuff money ffs.
setanta are doing a decent job of promoting it though.

It's because we have to shell out AGAIN.
Wouldn't be so bad if we hadn't had to for the chumps he fought in the last two years.
Hatton in non-PPV fight shock!
Is it true Bradley from S-Club is fighting James Cracknell on the under-card?

i tryed sky+ them freeview hatton clips but it said 'Clashed', not too sure what went on their cause i wasnt recording anything else at the same time

I Sky plussed the freeview previews and got them to work by setting the 'viewer defined' start time 5 mins into the recorded program (if that makes sense).
Anyway chaps, yes thanks for that heads up, the previews did lift my interest a bit. Ricky does look in superb shape, very muscular and powerful.
Was going to make up my mind on Saturday whether to pay for the fight or not - I really think they are taking the piss with this PPV thing now - but I see Setanta are offering a free months subscription if you but the fight by close of play on Friday which means a few free Premiership games....

What is the deal with the premiership games on Setanta - are they and Sky just dividing the games between them now?
Posted: 21 Jun 2007, 06:12

Yes that's pretty much it.
Need to subscribe to Setanta as well as Sky Sports if you want to see all the Premiership matches so that's another £20 a month.
They can do one to be honest.

Yeah big time. I'll be looking forward to my letter from Sky informing me of the reduction in my monthly subscription charge...

i hate ppv as much as the next person.
in the early days i used to take a stand and refuse to pay. :)
but i soon realised it weren't making a blind bit of difference.

Duke McKenzie just said this marks the arrival of Ricky Hatton on the world stage.

As I understand there is no necessity to subscribe to Setanta for a whole year. They seem to be offering a buy 1 month get 2 free package with no 1 year binding beyond that....

Punch power's very interesting. Ricky must've weighed less than 150 during that test, yet is reported to bench press a little over 70 kg max. I'm sure his stocky build is the reason for his hook's power.
Has anyone heard if a SopCast feed is likely?
Again, as with PBF/Oscar it doesn't feel like a massive occasion. I wonder how much of that is down to me. Maybe because boxing isn't mainstream anymore...
The fights which would excite me are Calzaghe vs. Kessler, Inkin, Bute or Froch, and Haye vs. Maccarinelli or any quality HW. No disrespect to Ricky and Jose, I just can't imagine it being much of a thriller; unless someone gets KO'd early.
