Whats happening with The British Heavyweight champion, he seems to have done a bit of a dissapearing act since looking good beating Gammer at the begining of the year.
Any news, is he down to 15 stone yet? Or is he up to 21 stone?
After his best performance in years and declaring his intention to continue... I would have liked to have seen Danny fight often.
On a side note, anyone have any info on Corrie Sanders. He was back fairly recently, but gone a bit quiet also. His fight with Vitali was one of the last exciting Heavyweight title fights.

Good question. The options for a defence are very limited. Who would it be? Rematch with Gammer? McDermott? A third with Audrey? It's either that or wait another 4/5 months for the Skelton Sprott loser. A fight with Virchis was muted, but Vidoz was quickly drafted in.
Watch out for Sanders Botha in the near future

Didn't danny say after the fight he would consider retiring at this point?

He did, but said a week or so later that the plaudits he recieved made him realise he still has something left and said he wants to carry on. He mentioned the European title.

Oh right.
Personally, I think maybe this would be a good time for him to jack it in.
He proved he was still probably the best man in the UK when in shape, and I just don't see how a fighter with as many miles on the clock as he has, can go any further. He's taken some savage beatings over the years, and despite his weight loss, I still think he's a bit shot now, his balance really isn't what it used to be, and he is an old fighter in terms of wear and tear.
I wonder about his enthusiasm, because we haven't heard a peer from his since.

Danny must be financially secure now as well, mainly from the couple of mill he had from Klitschow.
Also he must have had decent paydays for Tyson and Harrison.
The 20k he had for the Gammer fight was hardly worth getting out of bed for!
He seems like the sort of bloke that wouldn't waste his money either.
As long as he hasn't got any real ambition for further titles, I think it would be a good time to retire.
He has had a good career, earned good money, ruled the domestic roost for years, beat Tyson and had his shot at world honours.
He should be able to look back with a lot of pride and no regrets

A fight that should have happend year ago.... I think it would still have some appeal and should be competitive.

All true but you just can't help thinking he could still beat a big name and it is that potentiality that must keep him interested.
Because the best of him is comparable with some of the lumps that have held the crown recently.
Personally, I'd say he was 50-50 with Briggs.
Deluded? Moi. Possibly.

I agree he def has a chance v Briggs, Maskeav, Ibragimov, to be honest other than Klitschko he has a chance against any of them .
Thats why I said he should retire unless he has any real ambition for further titles.
An in shape, motivated Danny could do something due to the very poor state of the H/W division

cant sing Danny's praises enough...
what a career....
the shoulder thing with potter
the blast out of meehan
the samil sam disaster
tyson
big klit
beating aud....losing to aud
and at the end he is still an enigma
he came in like a cruiser for Gammer...and whilst we all want him to keep the wait off dont forget it was a huge Danny who beat Skelton THAT WIN WAS PROBABLY DANNY'S GREATEST PERFORMANCE

He didn't make anything like that for Klitschko, and he took a small purse against Tyson. He took both fights for small purses because he wanted the fights for the legacy.

Now fighting Vitali Klitschko and Mike Tyson for a small Japanese car suggests he needs a better manager.
Of course, he'll eat out on the Tyson win forever. Much like Cooper did after felling Clay - briefly.

Williams got bugger all for the tyson fight, wasn't it 50,000 dollars, which in the end Warren had to pay up, as the promoter of the event didnt?
He must have been well paid for the Klit fight though.
Sure, Danny was huge when he beat Skelton, but he was also huge when he lost to Skelton. Let's face it, Matt isn't anything special, he's just a big lump with heart and a decent engine, his boxing skills are pretty awful.

So he took a lot of punishment for those purses, but you've got to respect his genuine competitiveness. If he hadn't taken those fights, he'd still be just another run-of-the-mill British heavy passing around the WBU and/or domestic belts.

I still thought he had 250k for Tyson fight and I did think the had big money for Klits?
What are the correct figures then?

I don't know the actual figures, but he definitely had a small purse for Tyson because he jumped at the chance when Team Tyson went shopping for a cheaper opponent because Kevin McBride was asking for too much.
The Klitschko payday must have been better, but for sure there were no millions involved.

Actually looking into it, it was 250,000 dollars. I seem to recall though that Williams had great difficulty getting his hands on it from that shonky bastard who put the promotion on.
I think that originally Peter McNeeley was on for 400,000 or so.

What about the Klits fight?

Not sure, but presumably a bit more, though probably not a huge payday, I don't remember it ever being announced. I would suspect about 750k at a wild guess.

I may be entirely wrong but the 2m figure stiks in my mind, that could be $ tho.
Nevertheless if it was 750k sterling plus his other fights, as long as he has been sensible he should be financially secure and set for life.
He don't need to box again to pay the rent!
