4th Round stoppage after a gruesome left hook to Castillo's ribs! :box:

The 3rd round was good. Peach of a shot to end it.

Hopefully the quick win means that Hatton will be back in the ring within 3 months. A September fight would be good.

Wow! WHAT a shot that was - unstoppable. Ricky has hit the heights, no doubt about that. Absolutely brilliant win. the world is his oyster.

Where next now? Oscar at Wembley....why not? Talk about showbiz, and Oscar don't like body shots!

Interesting trying to get the nedal in with Mayweather with those comments "those 4 rounds had more actions than mayweather had in a carrer" dispite it showing a lack of respect for skilled boxing is always a good way to start talking up a fight.

I had rounds 1 and 2 going to Ricky and had round 3 as even. Some good exchanges in 4, but that hook to the ribs obviously really hurt Castillo. I wonder if he could have got up though? No doubt it hurt, but I wonder just how much.

No way he could get up, that Mexican pride you could see was well up for a big win tonight - but that was a once in a life time perfect shot that leaves even a great fighter like Castillo helpless for 10 secs or more.

Nah, it was a legit KO in my mind. No "No mas" here.

Even with a 4th round stoppage over The Ring's number 2 ranked fighter at 140, people will still find a way to fault this performance. It was a great left hook to the body, similar to Hopkins liver shot against Oscar, only delivered with more venom.

I'd like to see Hatton come back to UK now and beat up Witter in a unification fight before moving on to a Cotto or Mayweather.

McGuigan is strongly suggesting that Mosley might be Hattons next fight.

Maloney reckons DLH will offer himself to get Hatton under the Golden Boy banner.

Just to make it clear guys, I was in no way attempting to suggest that Castillo didn't have heart, far from it. Just merely putting the thought out there, wondering how hurt he was.

Forgot about Mosley! That would be a fantastic matchup, guaranteed to bring in $$$.

You think? I think that would be bad match making for Hatton. If Hatton loses, he loses a lot of reputation. If Hatton wins, he beat a "shot" 36 year old.

BIG UPS to ricky...great liver shot!! witter might be a decent tuneup for cotto or floyd, but do you think hatton gains that much from a win over a guy who ran like a dog from zab judah?!?
Well Witter has came on alot since then but I agree Hatton wouldn't gain much praise on the world stage for beating Witter. It's just there has been lots of banter between these two camps for years now, it would be a superfight in UK. That's if Witter beats Harris.

if you're referring to oscar...wouldnt he be too big at 154 for ricky to mess with?
Terrific work from Ricky. This is how you deal with older, elite fighters. Here, we saw action and class. I'm chuffed.

If the name DLH is mentioned it is for ONE reason. That they want to sign him. They've maybe let Pac slip. They won't let Ricky slip through.

Ricky wioud almost certainly have to jump up to 154 for Oscar. This is far too high for Ricky and win, lose or draw could be his ruining. No, GBP know a breadwinner when they see one.

There is a ton of marketable stuff out there for Ricky. Ricky's name alone now will guarantee box office. Personality + action style + one punch KO. I suggest someone in his own weight, or below. Matchmaking is vital. Why not face a fellow bull, coming up from 135, in Juan Diaz? Why not the light hitting, tricky but entertaining Malignaggi? Hatton could suffer frustration but little hurt. How about Katsidis, as a kind of gimme, and so on.

I feel there's a fvcking lottery to be won before any talk of welterweight and facing bigger guys. These are final cash ins...Stick around long enough and there's the likes of Amir Khan in what would one day be enormous. Surely the biggest British fight ever when Khan is ready for such things in say 3-4 years.

Junior Witter will have to shut up now.

If anyone's got a link to this fight, please let me know, because I can't find it on youtube this morning. It might be a little early, but I'm concerned that youtubes efforts to improve their intellectual rights protection may have foiled those who post the fights.

Anyway, I think, ironically, that out of all the big fights out there now, Mayweather is the most winnable for Hatton.

Hatton would get splatted in quick time be Dela Hoya and Mosley would do likewise.

I'd like to see him avoid Maglianni, considering Ricky's problems with southpaws in the past and his difficulties in getting up for anything other that the biggest names.

Keep Ricky away from Moseley - sylistically its a nightmare for him.

From a personal and profit point of view either Cotto or DLH are the natural targets..

Junior Witter will have to shut up now.

Ricky should fight Mallagani, or Witter as a homecoming fight.

Mosely and DLH would be too good for him, he couldnt win those fights, which would be at Welter or above.

Ricky fought well against Castillo but we have to bear in mind that the man was almost 34, had major wars and had been a pro since 15. He was also being paid only $250k, with most, if not all going to the revenue.

Ricky keeps saying tin interviews that he is relishing fighting the best, but since Zoo, he has not fought anyone who could be termed anywhere near the best in their division.

Cant he tempt Floys back to 140, or a catchweight with Cotto at 144?

I would guess it's gonna be Malignaggi or Cotto next, at MSG. If it's Cotto then the Garden will be the perfect venue - what an atmosphere that'll be!!

There's no way Hatton will fight Junior Witter. That would be a step back after this morning's victory. Why risk it all against a slippery dangerous unknown when there's megafights with megamoney ahead?

I think we learned that Ricky can look sensational against opposition smaller than him that can't hurt him or is not as physically strong and that he struggles against bigger opposition.

But crucially Hatton still finds ways to win against the bigger opposition, he has a Plan B and C for that matter even if it's not that aesthetically pleasing.

Cotto and Malignaggi would probably be ideal opposition, I don't think Mosely is a good fight for Hatton.

Big respect to the crowd too, they sounded amazing! I have to go next time.

Great fight, well worth staying up for - You could see in the eyes of Castillo so much pain and you knew it was all over straight away - Castillo down on one knee just waited for the ref to count him out - Superb performance from Ricky that will have made him a superstar in America overnight - Ricky has proved to any doubters he is the worlds best LW and maybe best pound for pound fighter as well - The Americans love his humour too and he just oozes personality making him an all round star - During the documentary Ricky was on a stage and Dale Winton got mentioned so Ricky replied " Now theres a man who has been battered about the ring" - He is just so funny, as good as any standup comedian - The sad fact is millions in Britain are missing out on Ricky Hatton because he isnt seen on ITV or BBC, therefore Amir Khan has a more famous face which is daft, but true - To be honest I thought Setanta did a great job and they are going to be looking for more big fights, thats for sure - If FW doesnt have an exclusive contract maybe ITV could put on Hattons next fight - Not having a clue what that would involve I just think its time National TV got in on the Hatton act, and what an act it is.

I agree Cotto or Malignaggi are probably his best fights - DLH, Moseley or Mayweather are risky fights at 147 - Witter is very unlikely and why do it anyway - He wouldnt get the money or gain any more status from beating Witter which he would comfortably do - The fight would be a huge draw in Britain but in America it would be Junior who? - If he fights Cotto and Malignaggi or maybe just one of them and wins he should retire as the boxing legend he is - He has all the money he needs and will always have work whatever he chooses to do.

I would be very disappointed if Hatton took ANY fights at 147. You could call it brave... or stupid, but he really isn't suited to that weight. The evidence is plain to see, Ricky likes to man-handle his opponents, it's just his style and he cant do it at 147.

totally agree. stay at 140 ricky, i know its a pain in the asss but youre unbeatable at that weight. maybe move up in a year. let nature take its course

Good win he has to stay at 140. Who next?
