Wonderfuly gifted boxer who has never beaten a champion for a world title (not his fault by the way), Was beaten easily by the proper champ.
Was as good a footballer as fittler but when you sit down to pick a team and there is not much between the players do you go for the show pony or the team man?

I think he was more talented than Fittler, but not as good a footballer.

He's not the only person in the world that thinks god gives a shit about him. I'd say there are billions that have that belief.

As for the greatest athlete. I think he believes that because of the levels he has reached in two sports. I don't know whether that makes him the greatest athlete of all time, given he has shown amazing skills in both sports, but hasn't reached the peak in either. Still I think when the dust settles he will be thought of as one of our best ever sports stars.

I think people are to hard on Anthony Mundine. I think he has great skill when he is on fire, and can mix it with the best at the current scene (he didnt get smashed by kessler) He is a great athlete who was a good footballer, playing 1st grade is a big deal!

Yea he may not be the greatest athlete, but least he is giving it his best shot, earning good money, and giving some role model to young aboriginal people about not drinking, and having faith in oneself.

I disagree that its not his fault - he talks the talk and then fights some 5th rate opponent. I have said perform Mundick will beat the hand picked opponents that he wants to fight but when he has to step up and fight a real champion - Kessler, he is just not in their league - he is just not good enough.

I think his father would have KOd him in 5-6 rounds, His dad had easily as fast hands and feet and had more power.
Mundine is a good fighter but will never be an elite top 10 boxer, He lost to Ottke and even though it was early in his career he got KOd, If he lost on points i wouldnt be so hard on him but KOd by a guy he himself described as hitting like a woman Kessler handled him fairly easily with a back injury and he might get closer in a rematch but im not convinced fighting guys like Nieves is helping him prepare for Kessler.

All in all he brings most of the critisim on himself and no matter what he does in the next few years he will never be as good as our other top fighters like Fenech who only lost when they got old and not when young and in there prime.

REIGNING national super flyweight boxing champion Ahmed Elomar is among four Australian Muslims arrested in Lebanon on suspicion of having links to terrorists.
And a second Australian, former Sydney taxi driver Omar Hadba, may have been the owner of a workshop found in the Lebanese city of Tripoli brimming with almost half a tonne of weapons and explosives.

The Australian understands that Lebanese security authorities are also interested in questioning former Sydney-based hardline Muslim cleric Feiz Mohamed, who is linked to Elomar, Mr Hadba and two other men arrested in Tripoli.

The arrests came after Mr Hadba, an Australian Muslim, was arrested last Wednesday and alerted authorities to the other men. Lebanese soldiers arrived at a 3mx4m workshop on Saturday afternoon and removed an arsenal of weapons and explosives.

According to a man who rented the adjoining shop, Mohamed Chawk, neighbours were stunned at the number of weapons taken away. "I couldn't believe that he was involved in all of this," Mr Chawk said. "But when we saw them open the shop it was packed to the roof with guns. We are talking Kalashnikovs, M16s, sniper rifles, hand guns, masks, rocket-propelled grenades, land mines and grenades. It filled up one military truck to the limit."

Mr Hadba is believed to be from the Sydney suburb of Liverpool. His wife, two boys and three girls returned to Sydney during the war last year between Hezbollah and Israel.

It is believed Sheik Feiz - who has praised jihadists and referred to Jews as pigs - left Lebanon two months ago to study in Malaysia.

Elomar, who fought on the undercard of an Anthony Mundine fight last year, left for Lebanon with his wife and two children only about two weeks ago - against his father's wishes.

Mundine - also a Muslim - is pictured here with "Trigger" Elomar and his younger brother Mohammed on the night the former rugby league star defeated Danny Green in May last year. Mundine went on to regain his world title and Elomar became national champion in his division a few months later.

Elomar's father, Abu Ahmed, yesterday said he pleaded with his 24-year-old son not to go to Lebanon because he was worried for his safety at a time when tensions were escalating between the Lebanese military and the al-Qai'da-linked terror group Fatah al-Islam.

"He went to Lebanon for a holiday against my wishes," Abu Ahmed told The Australian inArabic yesterday, "because I knew it is the wrong time to travel and the wrong place. But I couldn't physically stop him".
Elomar - who adopted the name Trigger for the boxing ring - was arrested with fellow Australian Muslims Ibrahim Sabouh and Mohammad Basal last Wednesday amid allegations they were linked to Lebanon-based terror cells.

A fifth Australian, Bassem al-Sayyed, was reported in a Lebanese newspaper to have been killed with his wife during military shelling in Tripoli, north of Beirut. However, officials now believe Mr Sayyed and his wife were not in Lebanon at the time.

The confusion has centred on Australian identity papers found at the scene of the battle in a suburb of Tripoli, Lebanon's second-largest city.

Australian intelligence officials have now revised from seven to four the number of nationals caught up in the raids following a month-long insurgency launched by Islamic militants in the Nahr al-Barad Palestinian refugee camp.

Mr Ahmed, who has not spoken to his son since his arrest, said Lebanese authorities found no identification on his eldest son when they arrested him. "If they find him guilty of anything, I am with the military and with the Lebanese Government," he said. "But there's an investigation taking place and I'm confident they won't find him guilty of anything."

He said Elomar wanted to visit Lebanon because his wife, Najat, was eager to see her family back home. Elomar and Najat have two sons - Mamdouh, 7, and Taha, 3.

Elomar's close friend Fadi Rahman yesterday told The Australian that the boxer was one of the country's most promising young fighters before he suffered an eye injury in a fight last year.

With a professional record of 13 wins, two draws and no losses, Elomar, who trained under Billy Hussein at a gym in Lidcombe in Sydney's west, was hoping to return to the ring later this year for a shot at the world title.

Remember Tony Mundine also lost by KO early in his career by Kahu Mahangu who was not that special. Anthony loses by KO to the world champion (who he was leading on points at the time) and you use that against him? and say Tony is much greater? I think it is a bit of a myth people who say Tony to be the much better fighter, I think Mundine has the potential to go even greater than what his father was.

I think Mundine is easily top 5 super middle today, and even maybe top 3 behind kessler and joe.

People need to lay off him a bit and be more supportive of the guy. What you people don't understand is that he wants to fire you up, so you all go watch him get knocked out (Same idea Ali had) . I think Anthony is a smart guy, he has earn more money then what anyone would playing rugby league. Danny green should thank him also for the big payday he received through fighting him. Mundine is the real deal inside the boxing ring, and i don't think he is scared to fight anyone. He handled himself over the most dangerous fighter in the weight division , Kessler, and I think he can easily beat Joe.

In the years 96-99 Mundine was the best 5/8 in the world. From a career aspect however, it's hard to go past Daley and Fittler as they were the more consistent/played longer than Choc...

Mundine Snr fought when there was only 1 champ in each division, Jnr wouldnt have a belt today if this was the case as he couldnt beat Ottke or Kessler so he is really a no3 in this division just like his father was.

Sorry but Anthony has NEVER won a world Title. He has been named champion fersure. But never had to beat a champion. Is that splitting hairs? maybe. I've met both Anthony Mundine and Danny Green and if I was on a 20 hour flight I'd much rather sit next to Mundine.

I've also got a friend who trained in Danny Green's gym and he said that Danny is only interested in converstation if you are talking about him, but when my friend met Mundine, he sat and talked for hours about boxing and he was one of the nicest people they'd ever met.

From my experience Green is the much bigger prick

Sure Mundine has the odd easy fight but what fighter doesn't.....

Mundine fought Green and should have put to bed the Green v Mundine debate. Mundine is clearly the better boxer and that has been proven in the ring.

The only class opponent Green has ever fought was Mundine....and guess what happened there....

Beyer, I could have put him to sleep, and yet in the rematch, Green was outboxed and outsmarted.....

Now, please don't go telling us that Green's opponents have been any better than Mundines.....DeLisle x2, Murdoch, Sclarandi, Toriri, Burke, Smallman, Latu and Roberts just to name a few.....

Styles make fights and I actually predicted in the Cairns Post that Mundine would win and make it look easy doing it and I believe I was right.
Green is prepared to fight anyone
Mundine only fights live opposition when he has to, otherwise he is looking for some 10 rate opponent to try and make himself look good.
The last bloke Mundine dug up wasn't even heard of, had no rating until Mundine wanted to fight him, and Mundine struggled !!!

Green tried to get Sciacca and ended up with someone else who actually appeard better on paper tha he really was
