Mayweather calls out Hatton

Aparently Mayweather has come out and said if Hatton wants the fight all he has to do is sign the contract. Negotiations maybe a stumbling block, Mayweather will feel he is entitled to the largest share of the pie and so will Hatton.
This will be a really exciting fight to watch and in terms of a superfight. Its the fight fight fans want to see, it will be promoted heavily. Mayweather did 350k of PPV sales against Judah and Baldomir so this has to be good for 600-800k of PPV sales because Mayweather is bigger and Hatton is a bigger name and its the fight fans want to see.

Hatton will surely take less than Mayweather for this, he'll still be guaranteed the biggest payday of his career.....
If it ever happened, I'd love to see this...

The weight might be a negotiation stumbling block as well.

It won't happen, this all sounds like a lot of bluster to me. If it even gets as far as negotiations, they'll break down somehow, with both sides blaming the other.
A cynical view perhaps, but bitter experience tells me it's the most likely outcome. Still, I'll be delighted to be proven wrong. If Mayweather and Hatton are both serious, Hatton needs to be reasonable and accept the short end of the money, and probably concede what weight the fight takes place at as well, and Floyd needs to be reasonable as well; i.e. not asking for a 90/10 split or something like that.

I'd give Floyd the bigger purse, but only if he came down to 140. If I were Hatton and I had to move up to 147 again then I'd want to be adequately compensated.

Is this from dogshithouse? I think if you read carefully half of it is what Mayweather's guy said last week, mixed in with some current stuff. i don't think it's even up to date and anyway, we don't even know what their terms would be. up at light middleweight? floyd getting the lion's share? etc etc

BTALK - today, I'm not a subscriber though
To the guys talking about weight - weight has no affect on how this fight would pan out. Neither fighter will be particularly stronger at 140 than they would be at 154 or 147.
The only advantage to having the weight at 147/154 is the WBC belts will be fought for. For Floyd he could be linear at 140 but without the belts he wont go for it. Floyd doesn't do the drying out thing Hatton does so he won't fight below 147.
I think Hatton would probably benefit from it being at 147/154 and not having to make weight, its not like Mayweather would be any stronger at 147/154 than he would be at 140

i think weight is irrelevant
hatton is the bigger guy and will weigh more on fightnite regardless
this will ocme down to money
flloyd will want a minimum 70/30 split if not more

50-50 ish split, PBF couldn't draw flies to a shithouse. Fight at 147, preferrably 144

I'm just waiting for some silly purse split in Mayweather's favor. He doesn't want to face a rough you up style so he'll surely price himself highly. Let's not forget, he got rich basically off Gatti's and DLH's backs - he's no attraction - not to mention HBO's insistence that he's the best fighter p4p which sometimes sounded hollow.
Anyways, Hatton would need to have a good practise against a slickster like Malignaggi first -I would think - and his promotional situation may need sorting out i.e. surely a lot of ppl are courting him.

Yeah, no way would Floyd drag 10,000 fans half way across the world.

to be fair hatton didnt, heard it was more like 2,000
PBF is more 'Known' than hatton now, due to the ODH fight

You may have a point, but let's put things into perspective here. For his win & against De La Hoya, which was his last outing, Mayweather eneded with something like $25M. There's no way Floyd will give the OK for a 50-50 financial split.
If Mayweather doesn't receive the lions share of the purse, I doubt we'll ever see Hatton vs Mayweather.

I doubt it happens. Would rather see Hatton in exciting fights.

Still think Mayweather is a different level all together.

This is the way I'd handle it.
If it happens at 140, give Mayweather 60/40
If it happens at 147 50/50
If it happens in England 70/30 for Mayweather.
EDIT: Actually, now that I think of it, boxings payment method is backwards. It's probably the only sport where a losing competitor can earn more than a winning competitor. Why don't people just pre determine a first and second purse and whoever wins gets the higher purse? Just like other sports. Don't think Federer would be happy beating Nadal and then picking up a cheque that's smaller than Nadals

According to this article, Mayweather isn't interested.

Hatton won't fight Mayweather, he will stick at light-welterweight where he will stay undefeated because at that weight no one can touch him. Why would he risk his undefeated record, moving up in weight where he has already been and not looked the part, and take on Mayweather for a big pay day when he can keep taking on LWW 'contenders' and receive 6 big pay days? To me Mayweather-Hatton is a shutout in Floyd's favour anyway and he would be mental to take on Cotto. I can see his next two fights being Malignaggi and Diaz

Well it just shows you how everything can be so inflated and inaccessible in boxing. Floyd-Oscar was not great for boxing. And while he was fine in the boxing department, Mayweather was clearly taking advantage of the Golden Ticket, like Charlie & the Chocolate Factory.
The ? is, AFTER that, how much box office is Floyd. On his own, he isn't that big.

given the fact that cotto-judah only did a disappointing 225,000 PPV buys and based on crowd noise there couldnt have been more than a couple thousand zab fans at MSG on 6/9 (he couldnt fill a 5,000 seat arena in hometown of NYC vs baldomir)...
so out of the 360,000 PPV buys that floyd-zab did, you have to give floyd 300,000 of them---many of whom had been impressed by his domination of limited but better-known arturo gatti in floyd's first PPV!!
given the fact that floyd-gatti did 350,000 PPV buys and floyd-oscar did almost 7 TIMES AS MANY PPV buys, i would say the exposure floyd got from beating oscar should bring in another 150,000-200,000 viewers for a match between floyd and a top-notch fighter like cotto, mosley or hatton, where floyd should sell 450-500,000 PPV buys just on his own!!
mosley could bring another 300,000 households=total 800,000 PPV buys for floyd-mosley
cotto could bring maybe another 150,000-200,000 households (based on fact he prob sold most of cotto-judah HHs)=total 700,000 PPV buys for floyd-cotto
after his impressive win over castillo, hatton could bring maybe 75,000-100,000 households in america...how many could he bring from britain in PPV buys?!? for that matter what was the most PPV households ever sold in britain by ANY fighter?!?
I don't think its as simple as 1 fighter brings a certain amount of PPVs and this is added to another fighters PPVs. The fighter and the fight itself depending on the buzz brings PPVs
Your right Floyd is now a Big PPV draw. His Baldomir fight did about the same as the Judah fight. The Judah fight would have sold more if Judah wasn't coming off a loss. Therefore given Floyd has more exposure after beating Delahoya combined with Hatton been a bigger opponent and a bigger fight 500k PPV fights seems to be a likely minimum and maybe more as this has been called the biggest fight in boxing for some time
To go over 700K PPV buys I think you have to be a household name and Floyd Mayweather and the rest simply are not big enough yet

In terms of pure boxing and dedication to his craft, certainly. But the guys who gave him problems and competitive fights were pressure fighters. Jesus Chavez (THE Jesus havez not t'other one) put on frenetic pressure and Mayweather wasn't exactly in his element. However, Chavez used up too much energy and Floyd took care of business to his credit.
Castillo gave him big problems in fight one. Mayweather's body language suggested that he was in some real crisis that he didn't like but the judges liked the defensive attitude and puny counter punching. Castillo is slow but well schooled.
Hatton's a lot bigger than Chavez. And a lot faster than Castillo. He wouldn't stand off like Castillo did. He'd jump on Mayweather, make it rough (what de la Hoya, not a good come-forward fighter, tried a few times...).
What we need conformation on with Hatton is if he still has the reserves of energy he had vs Tszyu.
I'd like to see him fight a Malignaggi before a Mayweather, though, so that he can see where's he's at with a frustrating pure boxer.
I'm big on all Hatton's performances apart from Urango, Collazo and Magee (& Vilches). If there's a brilliant southpaw with a great right hook that is the beating of Hatton.

well, he's only just warmed to fighting in America. Getting the preparations right. It's only now that he looks the fighter he was in Manchester. So it's good that he didn't fight Mayweather before. Ricky looks ready for good things, to me.
Admittedly though, Mayweather would have actually been easier to make back then.

Reports on the radio are today quoting floyd maywether as saying "lets do a deal"
