Soliman to get another Title shot?

In an article I posted in another thread it mentioned Sam Soliman has:
two other options for August: a world title fight against German champion Arthur Abraham, or a bout for the vacant IBO middleweight belt against American Bronco McKart in Melbourne, the more likely proposition.
Who would you rather he fight and why?
(I thought this was worthy of its own thread)

I would rather him fight Abraham, Soliman with his akward style would have a good chance of beating Abraham as long as the bad loss to Mundine hasnt affected him to much.

Agreed, Abraham also holds the more prestigious belt. However it would be good to get another world class match up (Soliman v McKart) on Australian soil...
Either fight will be good for Sam though, you know what they say about getting back on the horse...

I'm gonna go the other way. I am confident that Sam would beat McKart. I think AA would be just too good for 'King'

I only just realised it would be King Soliman v King Arthur
I'm sure they could do a decent promo with that
McKart would probably be the easier fight especially seeing as it would be in Aus but Sam doesn't always take the wasy option...

I'd say a particular lower region haristyle would be more their claim to fame Ben. Certainly the only thing I'm interested in associated with Brazil.

I'm not trolling, I'm a fan of Australian boxing, but it is safe to say Australia isn't the strongest boxing nation, nor is Oceania/Pan-Pacific the strongest region.

^That doesn't mean we can't talk about it and enjoy it! We have had our share of champions and I don't see a problem discussing the possibility of future champions. I love the sweet science and I will continue to watch, enjoy and hypothesise for as long as I wish.

Of course not, and as I said, I'm a fan of Australian boxing. It's just "regional titles" are nothing to boast about in that part of the world.

Most of the titles involve Asia, where most of the world's population live. Asian fighters tend to dominate the lower weight divisions. When you consider that Russians are eligible to fight for Pacific and Asian titles, Asia dominates several heavier divisions.

I believe he is on the new Contender series and if he is he certianly will have to wait for a title shot.

Not sure how I feel about Sam on the Contender. Suppermiddle isn't good for him but over 5 rounds his punch output will win him most fights on that series. I do think he is a bit past being on "The Contender" though, I mean he has fought Winky Wright!!! Anyway I wish him and Bika all the best.

Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't he able to make 160 with ease as it was nearly his walking around weight? Either way I enjoy the show and it is good to see a top 15 guy take part in it.

King Arthur V King Soliman would be a mystical royal battle indeed! However after the loss to Mundine i don't think Sam has enough left to beat a 27 year old prime Abraham. Saying that Sam would be a step up after Demers and Gevor, two spurious opponents.
Soliman V McKart would be interesting, i give Sam a good chance of beating the ageing Bronco.

Yeah Sam has no trouble making 160, in fact after his Supermiddle loss he even thought about going down to 154! He was then in line to fight Abraham or McKart at 160 but when that didn't come to fruition he decided his best option was to take part in the Contender... I guess we'll see if it works out for him.
The more I think about it the more I feel this is step back for Sam (especially if he doesn't win) even though there are some decent names in the series this year.

In addition to beefing up the level of fighters, producers have also vastly improved the training staff. Gone are Tommy Gallagher and Jeremy Williams, who have been replaced by Buddy McGirt, one of the best trainers in the sport, and Pepe Correa, who worked with Leonard and former heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis, among others, during his 40-year career.
One of the chief complaints from boxing fans about the series in seasons past is that the bouts that end each episode were heavily edited down to just a couple of minutes of action. That has been addressed for this season.
While episodes will be structured similarly to previous seasons, more of the bouts will be seen each week. In addition, every bout will air in its entirety, most likely on ESPN2.
"The good news for the hard-core boxing fan is that the fights will be available on one of our network platforms," Wechsler said. "We want to continue providing 'Contender' fans with the show that they love and we also want to give hard-core fans what they want."
A fourth season is being discussed with heavyweight as the target division
Looks like it could be pretty good.

A few familiar names aside from the two aussies. Should be good. I'd really like to see what they come up with in regards to heavyweights next season. I heard that they were reluctant to do it with the big guys because the short turn around time between fights.

Sam has always been good value. I would not write him off for the contender. Some of the pugs on the original series had been around a long time. Considered worth another chance.
Hell! How long had George Foreman been considered finished when he beat Moorer for the title?

i wouldnt write sam off either he is a good fighter and shouldnt be judged by the loss to mundine i think he has the skill and the awkardness to beat alot of real good fighters if he does very well or wins in the contender it would have to be good for him as far as getin people to remember his name wouldnt it

The first two seasons were and it is my understanding that they were reasonably popular, so I'd imagine they'd show it again. That said I haven't seen it advertised at all
