Frankly, I think that Mayweather - Hatton might be a goer. Every thing else pales into insignificance based on that.

Ricky Hatton is coming to the end of his career. He has 3 fights and to the end of 2008 before he retires. Those fights will more than likely be.

The Americans are the paymasters of the Hatton camp and it is they, not us who will decide who Hatton fights. I don't think Showtime care about Hatton vs Witter, it makes no sense to make the fight if you are Hatton or showtime.

yeh you do wonder if he will always wonder about that fight that hung over him for his entire carrer and if he could have won... thats what we can hope for.

If it's not Mayweather it will be Malignaggi. Malignaggi's name has creped up, because Lou DiBella used to work for HBO and now HBO are interested in the fight. The rumours about that fight certainly didn't start with the fans.

Timing is going to be a problem for Hatton-Witter this year. Well, the cynic would say that's always been the problem. But if Witter-Harris is happening in September, and Hatton plans on fighting again in October/November (which he really should, regardless of the opponent), then Hatton-Witter just ain't happening. I don't want to sound like a Hatton apologist, but Witter's focus should be on beating Harris in impressive fashion, nothing else. Hatton has shown no inclination to make a fight with Witter based on the local rivalry, so Witter has to take the same route the likes of Hopkins and Winky did: Keep winning against whoever will fight him, and eventually the shot will come. It's going to be even tougher for Junior than it was for those two, because US TV aren't going to get as excited in a bloke from Bradford, and US TV drives boxing these days, which, frankly pisses me off as a British boxing fan. However, my being pissed off doesn't pay the bills. Personally, I think Hatton-Witter has been dead in the water for a few years now: It should have happened when they were both domestic level. Given Hatton's status now, I can't blame him for aiming for PBF. Still, if Ricky ends up fighting someone along the lines of Urango again...... well, the less said the better.

Who would you rather see hatton face, Cotto or Witter?

I find it odd when ppl are saying the Witter fight will always hang over Hatton. Come on, when you watch Witter, you always wonder WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO START THROWING PUNCHES, LAD. It's like the Johnny Nelson days.

It's not like Calzaghe not fighting Kessler, who's proven to be an outstanding champion in his own right.

I must admit i'm in favour of Hatton V Witter although i doubt it will ever happen. Ron Scarfone from Boxing Tribune is also banging a drum for the fight:

Who would you rather see Hatton face, Cotto or Witter?

Cotto for sure James, it is a signature fight for the light welterweight division. I think Hatton will beat Mayweather and that conclusion has been a long time coming to fruition. When two oustanding talents in their natural weight divison are still unbeaten the fight has to be made post haste.

If time was a luxury and Hatton had another 18 months of activity then I would also like to see him fight Witter, but the fact it hasn't happened by now means it won't happen IMO.
