Watson went tooth and nail with Kid Chocolate, busted up LaBarba, beat Benny Sharkey x3, Cuthbert, Corbett and had a close loss to a prime Freddie Miller near the end of his career.
Where would you rank Watson all-time at Featherweight?

Yes I did, so what about him?

Who would you rate in Seaman's range? (105-95)

So basically you're saying you have no knowledge of Watson who was once rated #1 by Ring Magazine as a featherweight?
That's fine.

Decagon wrote:No, I'm saying - as I've said before - that his ranking was based on a win against a one-eyed and nearly-retired fighter. He quickly proved to be a flash-in-the-pan when he lost three big fights in the following 18 months, without a major win.
Michael Grant was once ranked #1 at heavyweight. That doesn't put him in my top 100.
You act like he lost to no hopers. He lost to Kid Choclate, was DQ'd in a match for lacing, and lost to Tarleton in a close decision. You also fail to mention he lost to Tarleton about 1 year from leaving the sport.
You simply don't know much about boxing.

Decagon wrote:Aaaaah, so what happened to your argument that Tommy Watson is an all-time-great because he fought in the era of 20-round fights?

When did I say that? Now you have to make up arguments instead of addressing the ones I posted above?

If you're going to attack my credibility, I should be allowed to point out to everyone here that not long ago, on Fightbeat, you said that Seaman Tommy Watson would beat Naseem Hamed. The ONLY reason you gave was that Tommy Watson fought 20-round fights. He did not.
I don't recall ever saying that. I don't remember everything I post on every website. But I do think Tommy Watson would've shredded Haveeb. Haveeb is pretty pathetic as far as featherweights go, probably not even Top 30.

I don't rank Watson in my top 30, either.
Well that's a matter of opinion, but on any respectable list he'd be above Haveeb simply on competition alone.

LaBarba > Manuel Medina
