I'd put him in with Jon Thaxton straight after Limmond, if he's saying he'll take on/beat anyone in Britain, he should be proving it against the best.

Emmanuel Augustus would be a good fight but from a managers stand point Khan has everything to lose and nothing to gain and it would be a difficult fight. Also Augustus is a light welter these days - dont think he can make lightweight - though he got down to 138lbs for his fight with lightweight Kid Diamond

Khan needs to face up to his domestic rivals prior to taking on faded international fighters.

If he needs lukewarm fights then Graham Earl should be the next opponent - then Thaxton for the British & commonwealth's...

Then JOHN MURRAY.

They'll save former Naz (Featherweight) victims for when Amir has won the WBU title.

I'd be happy with that for now. At least clean out some of his domestic rivals. Of course I think i'd happily swap any of those names for John Murray.

It's a good question Mikee. I like Stu's idea of Doc, wheverer he is these days. Also shame on the flippancy of P-N - surely Valero would be a more suitable first fight? Since he's a SF Frank might warm to the idea.

Anyway, this isn't quite answering the question, because if I was his manager I would probably go for slightly softer options. This lot would give him a proper education though.

Also a theory I came up with (although even I think it's a longshot) is that Khan fights Lynes for the British 140 title. An easier proposition than Thaxton imo, and opens the door to fights for the European title (although probably not Bami by then, but at least in British hands) and also easier world title tilts. But...you weigh that against Khan and his perception as a lightweight. Not that he can't make 135 of course, but would the pull be that in the wider public's eyes, Khan is a lightweight - fought in the olympics as a lightweight etc. Otherwise, if I was his manager, I'd take him the 140 route. Lynes, Bami etc.

Outside of Alex Arthur I can't remember too many SN fighters going after Euro belts recently

I'd go for someone like:

Danny Hunt: Good record, been inactive. Not a big pncher

Lee Meager: Good honest pro, would give Khan plenty of rounds

Dave Stewart: Wrong side of 30, not a big puncher

I don't think he's reay for Earl, unless Earl has totally shot his bolt, and Thaxton would muller him at this moment in time.

Meager easier fight than Thaxton IMO....

The reason I had two 'International' names in there is this..... Khan is only young, but in this game you can languish a while becoming a 'face'.... look at how long Hatton waited for the Zoo fight (not a criticism) and people are STILL talking about him 'breaking' America?

For that reason I would like to get Khan on the undercard of PPV, or on B.A.D (if its still on) or FNF.... because he can beat the three guys i mentioned, and probably beat them explosively if not as quickly as his previous fights..... eg if he takes 4 rounds to batter Soto and then puts him down and out, thats looks good on TV, people remember you for that...

I would even look at building toward a late 2008 eliminator fight with Peterson.... if it could be garaunteed to be an elim that is lol

I think he goes up a weight very soon. Meager would be good also, agree on that.

140 also fairly deep domestically... not as bad at international level tho

Murray, Earl, Meager but not sure about order - Forget Thaxton, he will end the Khan dream and should be avoided.

If he wins the Commonwealth belt -- and he will -- I would assume we'll get plenty of defenses from African nations, Canada, Australia and other countries that don't have a huge amount of depth.

Winning the British title at this stage would be the best thing he could do because defending it would steel him against excellent, tough opponents with a variety of styles.

So, if I was his manager, I would try to take a defence against the likes of Patrick Malinga. Then it's Meager, Earl, Thaxton, before a couple of defenses, should all go well agains Thaxton, before going for Martin Kristiansen.

If he came through all that, he would be genuine class. Although if I was his real manager, with real money invested, I'd avoid Thaxton like the plague.
