The lad is class and should make an excellent pro!

He has the right man in his corner in Richie - really looking forward to this lad developing in the pro ranks.

Good move by Woodhall. He's practically got the big of the amateurs as his first fighter. A bit like McCracken with the class of 2002, going to be a fear amount of pressure for him to suceed... although with the talent of Cox he has luxery's that most novice trainers do not have and you'd expect him to bring at least SOME success.

I think Richie will do well. I sat next to him on the flight back from Vegas post DLH v Mayweather (not name and place dropping, honestly), and he was waxing lyrically about his stable, not so much to me, as I was trying to sleep, but to Bob Mee, a good boxing journalist.

His problems at the ABA are now behind him (they are tossers there, I once enquired about offering training expenses to fighters and was told they would "interview me for suitability" and then never called back).

He was a fighter that took every ounce from his natural talent - surely the perfect trainer?

I have watched Richie cornering his batch of new fighters and the intensity he brings to the corner is fantastic. He offers great technical advice, encouragement and, of course, has been there and done it all, both amateur and pro.

Tom Podmore will have seen plenty of Richie's gym work with the lads but if it is as professional and well thought out as his cornering then they are in very safe hands.

Richie has done very well so far with the fighters under his control. He is a calming influence in the corner, gives, as you would expect, excellent technical advice, wants his fighters work behind the jab and never wants his fighters to get involved in wars – even if James McKinley can't help it.

In the gym Richie works on all the fighters strength's and brings out their best. Marcus Portman has just come over from Errol Johnson's gym and he will be even better working with someone with Woodhall's technical know-how.

And, of course, you have Lenny Woodhall – one of the best pad-men around.

Cox has looked very, very good when i've been at the gym, and sparring with the likes of Tom Costello, D Mitchell and Max Maxwell will help him improve - fighters that have fought and won in their contests.

The kid can seriously dig.

i met him in newcastle and he seemed a really nice lad. totally genuine and in his words he 'just cant wait to get going'.

british boxing could do with some young prospects coming thru.

it's a little thin on the ground where the young guns are concerned.

Alexander strutt, who asked the questions, trains with Cox at the gym and has just turned pro himself under Richie.

I didnt even realise it was Alex doing the questions.Hes a decent lad and should be making his debut in september.
