THATS TRUE I WAS THERE

You old rascal Terry.![]()
He gets hit a lot, they call him the Irish Gatti and you can see it. He might grab a portion of a title but put him in with top-class and he is going to be easily beaten.
How can you compare duddy and khan? khan is a spoilt little ponce and the next world champ apparently..who nearly got knocked the flip out by a pillow fisted smaller man... duddy has good scraps and hits very hard and takes some to get his off. Look at who khan has been in with and who john has there is no comparison.Terry D wrote:Cuevas, Campas, Bonsante, Strickland and now Furlan. All very good fights because Duddy looked fairly pedestrian and easy to hit.
Given the stick Khan got for one, very, bad round in an overall average fight by his standards why is Duddy still seen as a prospect. Even Autobahn would be unlikely to pick Duddy over Taylor and it is hard to see how Duddy can break the top-ten before someone breaks his winning run.
Call me cynical but shouldn't they just molly-coddle Duddy in the hope of getting him a Paddies Day fight with a title-holder so they can sell-out MSG?
There has been zero improvement, hence the 100% entertainment, in his recent fights. Cuevas warned him he gets hit too much after their fight and John seems to have that typically Irish "You say I get hit a lot, well watch this, I'll get hit even more you bastard".
Or does anyone really rate Duddy?
Duddy is also a dab hand at whipping up tensions between Ireland and England in every thread made about him as well.Achybreaky wrote:[how any english man can critisize irish boxing after the farce on itv this weekend is beyond me. Skelton and sprotty was good 'entertainment'.

No way. Taylors jab alone would destroy him. Duddy would be "Taylor" made to make Jermain look good. It is actually a fight I would pursue if I were Taylor after his recent stinkers have hurt his marketibility.stujones wrote:I'd give him a crack against Jermain Taylor - who the way he has been fighting, I'd give anyone who wants to win a shot against.
Kind of like another Irish fighter that you picked your username after then?thepocketrocket wrote:I really see Duddy getting his hands on a world title, not keeping it but getting more shots due to his exciting style..
Not a bad career I think...
Could Wayne have won more titles if he had taken the easier routes?? Maybe...Cannibal wrote:Kind of like another Irish fighter that you picked your username after then?thepocketrocket wrote:I really see Duddy getting his hands on a world title, not keeping it but getting more shots due to his exciting style..

I was a massive fan of Taylor when he was an up and commer... thought he was five times the fighter Lacy was (they were hyped around the same time)..... He still could be.Cannibal wrote:No way. I can only see Duddy picking up a belt against a weak champ who doesn't like pressure.
Sad but true..hey not that sad, cmon John!!Terry D wrote:A clubfighter in days gone by, now he'll win a world-titlethepocketrocket wrote:Could Wayne have won more titles if he had taken the easier routes?? But in a way yeah, Wayne could be going to the Hall of Fame, would he swap that for Calzaghes 10 year reign of terror? Duudys name will be known for a long time to come, a real warrior
Oh don't get me wrong, I think Taylor is ready for the taking, I just don't think Duddy would be the one to do it.stujones wrote:I was a massive fan of Taylor when he was an up and commer... thought he was five times the fighter Lacy was (they were hyped around the same time)..... .
However, I'm seriously starting to wonder if he is just what you claimed he is in your last paragraph... just got lucky breaks. Ouma took the fight too Taylor and Taylor didn't respond in the manner I expected.
Whilst Taylor is the man, on performances he has "looked" the weaker of the champions - for me he has only won 1 world title fight... vs Ouma.
Pavlik will answer if Taylor is a poor or good champion.
Terry,Terry D wrote:I feel 110% that Taylor will destroy Pavlik. Against Zertuche and Miranda he looked, to riff off your pun, tailor-made for Taylor.Cannibal wrote:No way. Then a gimme against Duddy at MSG for the Irish-Americans.

So Duddy would get ripped IMO, he'd go out bravely, but Taylor is a level above him.
Styles make fights though, and Duddy would attack more then move , and this would make Taylor fight more.stujones wrote:Old bones Ian wrote:Even though Taylor hasn't fought that impressivly recently, he is still beating everyone put in front of him. That includes HoF boxers.

Officially maybe, but I would say the majority thought Hopkins and Wright beat him and a fair few think Spinks did.
His jab hasn't been effective because he has been fighting guys who are notoriously hard to hit or good at defence.stujones wrote:Thing is Taylor's jab hasn't been effective since I cannot remember.
I'm not saying I think Duddy will beat Taylor, but I'd give him a chance (certainly more of a chance than vs Sturm or Abraham).
