He gets hit a lot, they call him the Irish Gatti and you can see it. He might grab a portion of a title but put him in with top-class and he is going to be easily beaten.
I am of Irish extraction and go there once or twice a year, but have never heard that one before, but it is something that is most likely to be said.
Irish Gatti seems appropriate and a carefully guided path to a version of the world title seems likely for him.

I'd give him a crack against Jermain Taylor - who the way he has been fighting, I'd give anyone who wants to win a shot against.
The rest of the decent Middles - Pavlik, Sylvester, Sturm, Wright, Asikanen etc - I think Duddy would be outboxed.
Miranda vs Duddy would be a good un.

How can you compare duddy and khan? khan is a spoilt little ponce and the next world champ apparently..who nearly got knocked the flip out by a pillow fisted smaller man... duddy has good scraps and hits very hard and takes some to get his off. There has been zero improvement, hence the 100% entertainment, in his recent fights. Cuevas warned him he gets hit too much after their fight and John seems to have that typically Irish "You say I get hit a lot, well watch this, I'll get hit even more you bastard".
Or does anyone really rate Duddy?
Duddy is ranked in the top ten by most of the organisations already, how any english man can critisize irish boxing after the farce on itv this weekend is beyond me. Skelton and sprotty was good 'entertainment'.

Oh and Duddy is a half decent prospect but Don Turner is wasting his time with him.
He can teach him defense and slipping until the cows come home but as soon as Duddy gets cracked he'll instantly revert back to his old ways.
Jack Mosley would be a good trainer for him.

Duddy i think has improved as far as he is going to i think, he is in some serious ring wars already in his career and he aint going to have any longevity. His fight with Campas was EXCELLENT, as brutal a war as you will see but Duddy got hit way too much. He has a static head, leaves his jab hanging out too long and "fights with his face". After watching Furlan fight Sebastian Sylvester he was clearly a made to order opponent for Duddy's Irish homecoming.
Duddy has reached his level, he is a European class operator at best and i feel Irish Ropes are bringing him back to cash in on a Euro title run. He is wildly exciting but sadly lacking world class, maybe fringe top 10 at the moment but Dunne, Lee and Moore are all better prospects at present.

No way. Taylors jab alone would destroy him. Duddy would be "Taylor" made to make Jermain look good. Elsewhere, I did like my first look at McCloskey, kind of like an Irish Carl Froch, same kind of style and I'm really looking forward to Dunne/Martinez on August 25th which I think has the potential for a great fight being that Dunne is a boxer who doesn't mind mixing it up and Martinez is a hard hitter.

However, I'm seriously starting to wonder if he is just what you claimed he is in your last paragraph... just got lucky breaks. Ouma took the fight too Taylor and Taylor didn't respond in the manner I expected.
Whilst Taylor is the man, on performances he has "looked" the weaker of the champions - for me he has only won 1 world title fight... vs Ouma.
Pavlik will answer if Taylor is a poor or good champion.

OK, heres my take...
Duddy is a good boxer and a good fighter. However he isnt a knockout puncher and hes no Willie pep..
We saw good variety against Campas, he could never outbox Campas in a Mayweather style, he would always be there to hit...yet he used the angles well and got himself out of the shit..
The guys he has faced since are either fornicating rubbish or here to survive. Duddy knows he can take their punches and will take the risk, plus they are in their shell so the fights look messy..
Duddy needs to be tested to change things, I just hope they step up before the faults become habitual!

With Duddy's lack of head movement and just being open to getting hit so often, Taylors jab would have a field day. I'd say Duddy would struggle to get inside the jab if Taylor uses it to full effect.

Thing is Taylor's jab hasn't been effective since I cannot remember.
I'm not saying I think Duddy will beat Taylor, but I'd give him a chance (certainly more of a chance than vs Sturm or Abraham).

I thought you would have learned to temper your faith in Taylor, after predicting the Spinx fight as his 'coming out party'.. Talk about a stinker.
PAvik has the heart, size andweight of dig to spook Taylor who, despite seeming to have the physical tools, must surely be second guessing his ability by this stage.
Duddy is an honest pro who doesnt shout his mouth off, turned pro with little fan fare and is making the most of what he has got. Good luck to him.
He isnt gonna make it to the top in my eyes but will retire with some good fights to look back on and a healthy bank balance.

So Duddy would get ripped IMO, he'd go out bravely, but Taylor is a level above him.

I'd prefer to see Duddy take on Eastman, its a perfect yardstick to rate him by. And Eastman still has alot of ambition left as well.
