The Curry of the McCrory fight stops Benitez late if he catches him.Chances are, that is not going to happen and he loses to Benitez in a razor thin verdict over 15, Benitez's defense being the difference.

Benitez easily beats the tar out of Curry. To quick & slick. Curry is not even in Benitez's league.

At WW Donald Curry was a fast hitting accurate puncher with excellent stamina, who picked his shots beautifully. His Cobra strike style vs Benitez's radar defense would make for a chess match, yet it would still be fast and entertaining. At the end I think Curry's superior firepower would be the difference and I believe he'd win something like 9-5-1 on rounds.

Yes and No. He was nothing special at JMW, and alot of boxing writers at KO, Ring etc went way overboard when they predicted him moving up to MW and beating Hagler. On the otherhand, prior to his loss to Honeyghan, he was outstanding at WW.

Curry was brilliant at his best at WW, but his peak didnt last very long at all. I think he would have beaten Benitez on points, with Benitez's defensive skills seeing him through to the end

Totally agree with this one. Curry was excellent but he was not as good as was claimed at the time.

Well I think you all exibit the classic symptoms of over rating Curry, while not giving Benitez' any credit. Curry never beat anybody who was anyone. He would never touch Benitez', unless you think Curry was on the same level as Surgar Ray Leonard!!!

Benitez using his defense and counter punching ability wins a clear decision against Curry. Something like 8 rounds to 4 for a clear UD.

And they were who? A bunch of nobodies....... Everyone had moved up.....that is the ONLY reason Curry ever became champ.

Curry was fast and strong. His star didn't shine long but his wins over Starling,McCrory and Jones are comparable to Benitez wins over Palamino & Weston.

Curry's speed and accuracy would cause the radar trouble and I would guess that 2 flash knockdowns provide the Cobra with a narrow points win.

Do we even need to argue this? Benetiz wins all the way.

What happened when Benitez fought someone that was faster and sharper than him he lost {Hearns} I think both fighters would try to counter off each other but I think Curry's edges in speed and power get him a close UD..

Wilfred Benitez has the more impressive career, but Donald Curry was clearly the more impressive of the two at WW. Two decision wins over the excellent Marlon Starling, a 1st round KO of Roger Stafford. a 4th round stoppage of rugged hard punching Colin Jones, and a 2nd round demolition of Milton McCrory (McCallum needed 10).
