Anybody else besides me who thinks Tony would prevail?

Ayala was a top prospect, but Barkley was a proven commodity. Ayala got dropped by a faded Mario Maldonado, while Barkley withstood monster shots from Tommy Hearns.
Barkley by TKO 3

Funny.......I was thinking Ayala by KO3.

Ayala had more raw talent. I can see him dishing out some punishment early on but Barkley's size and usual durability should se him swing the momentum back in his favour.
I essentially agree with Seamus's assessment but think it would go a fair bit longer than 3.

Tony Ayala proved himself against the likes Pat Hallacy, Jerry Cheatham, Steve Gregory, Robbie Epps and Carlos Herrera, not to mention he couldn't stop clubfighter Curtis Ramsey in his 20th bout, the way others had. Barkley on the other hand, beat Tommy Hearns twice, and dropped decisions that could have gone either way, to Michael Nunn and Roberto Duran. Heck, a couple of guys Barkley destroyed, i,e Michael Olajide and Darrin Van Horn were better than anyone on Ayala's resume.
Ayala looked quite impressive in winning, but fact is his competition was no where near as strong as Barkley's.

I know you're talking the up and coming Tony Ayala not the comebacking version.
Iran was made for Tony. This one isn't going far--the outcome is similar to Benn-Barkley.

Whoever connects first in this fight wins by KO. Well, Ayala was not a middleweight, so I think Barkley, who looked like a light heavyweight and looked stronger will win.

I used to hear about Ayala from my dad.He thought that Ayala had the
style and toughness to beat hagler and pointed out that it was a shame and a definite injustice that he didnt get a break like Tyson did in his rape charge trial.I really havent ever got to seeing any of Ayala's prime fights when he was a highly touted sensation back in the early 80's.
I'm sure that it'd have been a rip roaring clash of the titans type of battle between him and the Barkman!
